Is your beloved Wii Remote still flying out of your hand and hitting innocent bystanders in the head (or worse, smashing your beloved plasma)? If so, help is on the way—in the form of a free silicone cover, courtesy of Nintendo.

Kotaku is reporting that Nintendo will start giving away the new Wii Remote Jacket, which the gaming giant describes as a "cushiony shield" for "people who might accidentally throw or drop their Wii Remotes while playing games," starting on October 15; the cover will also start shipping with all new Wii consoles. The translucent cover looks pretty cool, at least from the pictures, although we'll have to wait and see whether it interferes with, say, Wii Bowling in any way.

Ready to get your hands on your free jacket? Just visit Wii.com or Nintendo.com to place your order, or dial 866-431-8367.

Me nor my 9 year old son has had any of the remotes slip out of our hands yet, lol. It is cool that Nintendo is stepping up and giving this and the stronger lanyard to customers for free though. Long live Nintendo.

Will people ever take responsibility for being irresponsible instead of blaming everyone else? OH, ok sorry my dumbass can't keep ahold of the remote and oh your dumbass isn't smart enough to stand back a few inches and instead we smash the tv and smash each others heads. Ok now lets blame the company and Scream give me free ----- .

wow... these are for the retards that think try and throw and punch with the wiimote as hard as the possibly can. its not a showoff contest, its a game. It makes no difference moving ur arm that fast isnt going to make any difference, the wiimote isnt made for that.

Not necessary - we play our Wii often and never have a problem with the controller slipping!

Well ya know it wouldn't be needed if people put the wrist strap on and played correctly instead of being stupid and showing off. Good idea but it was brought about because of stupid people

Maaaannnnnn!!!! This is as bad as the woman who sued McDonald's after SHE spilled hot coffee on herself... and won!!! She should've never won that frickin' ridiculous lawsuit and neither should ANYONE who thinks it's Nintendo's fault that their Wii remote slipped out of their hands and broke their T.V.!!!!! Does anyone take any FREAKIN' responsibility anymore???

It's a great business move by Nintendo, as customers are always right.

It's nice that nintendo came out with the Wii Jacket however it is a bit ugly due to the fact that the top part looks fat and unattractive. The part is of this is that the jacket is free.
