Think your new $1,200 Vista-ready desktop is a bit pricey? Try this on for size: a keyboard that retails for more than $1,500. I'm not talking about your standard, plastic clickity-clak keyboard, mind you. Meet the Optimus Maximus, a much-anticipated—and long-delayed—masterpiece of a keyboard, which has tiny OLED displays on each key that change the layout of the entire keyboard depending on the application you're running.

How fascinating. I always enjoy reading this "news" that is actually paid advertising. I hate what yahoo has become. A big fricking advertisement with all its content driven by someone paying them off.
a bit expensive... i personally would never even think of spending over a grand on a keyboard just because it can change its keys. theres really no point in the thing if it costs so much, and if you are really to lazy to move your hand across the keyboard then go ahead and buy it...
for this price, the keyboard should do all your work for you.
"Optimus Maximus" No,..... Optimus Prime.
This is a gimmick. The doubters were right about it from day one, it's too expensive to ever be anything more than a frivolous novelty. The big problem is that you're NOT supposed to be looking at your keyboard. That's the fundamental flaw in the entire concept. Perhaps it has a marginal use for people who require different keyboard layouts, especially for the ability to type in different languages that require different character sets. But somehow I don't see that being worth the price tag. Otherwise.. having to look down at the keyboard every time you want to see what a particular shortcut key combination is is pointless. At that point it's not a shortcut anymore, it would have been just as fast to use your mouse to do the function the long way.
Its a status symbol that doubles as a keyboard!!
If I type in the letters "BJ" will I be completely satisfied with the result?
that just freakin' lazy!
Is it spill-proof?
Let's see, $1,500.00 for a Keyboard, If you buy this your friends will say only one thing to u. E-D-OT.
this may be the coolest thing I have ever seen...
I didn't know a piece of ----- could cost $1,500. Sheeeesssh I better start scooping up my turds it might make me rich.
I can do that with some creativity and a few stickers.
How stupid and extravagant. It would be worth the money if it prevented all the Vista error messages and compatibility issues. How about a plasma screened TV instead. I wonder if they will come out with a matching $1,000.oo mouse?
Great! We find a better way to improve the keyboard. Now, how about a better way to improve computers so they don't crash!!
Great! Now when my computer crashes, I can throw keyboard at it and it should really fix it this time! exciting!
I am not convinced that this is any more than a gimmick for those "keep up with the Joneses" folks who like to pretend that having the latest gadgets makes them cool and impressive. It's still a keyboard...
are you kidding me!? i totally came up with that idea last year ...darn it! i was talking to my cousin in greece and got frustrated because i couldnt find one of the letters so then i said i should make a keyboard that changes characters...oh well who would buy a thousand dollar key board anyway?
i think its ok if ur a gamer but $1,500 thats reant money

Seems like a glorified touchscreen to me.
