Behold: a nearly two-foot-high, 100-pound-plus box crammed with a couple of game consoles, an HD DVD player, a DVR, a 200-watt amplifier, a galaxy of inputs, outputs, and iPod docks, plus a ventilation system that lights up in case of overheating. Start saving now.
Starting at a cool $20,000, the made-to-order ITC One isn't exactly what I'd call a home theater bargain—it's clearly a high-end gizmo for AV fanatics with money to burn. Still, it's an impressive thing to look at; I got a hands-on peek last night at a trade show, and the hefty cabinet is literally packed with components. The model on display had both an Xbox 360 (including the 360 HD DVD drive) and a Wii installed, along with a 200-watt Icepower "D-class" amplifier, and a docked video iPod; you can also opt for the DVR of your choice (just pick your cable or satellite provider). In the back you'll find a potpourri of AV outputs, all nicely lit from above, along with another set of inputs in the front panel (including a quartet of USB ports). Surrounding it all is a top-notch cooling system, complete with four cooling fans and vent lights that turn red in case something starts to overheat. Finally, a backlit, RF remote control (it's also waterproof, in case you decide to toss it into the jacuzzi) takes charge of the entire system.
Yeah, it's a little nuts—but if someone wants to give me one for the holidays, well...
