Want to take a self-portrait, but can't quite find a solid, level surface for your camera? Monster Pod to the rescue!

The bloggers at Crave went poking around SkyMall, publishers of your favorite in-flight magazine, and found this ingenious little gizmo. The Monster Pod comes with a "patented voscoelastic base" (check out this Wikipedia entry for the nitty-gritty) that will supposedly stick to a variety of surfaces: a tree, for instance, or a pole, a wall, or "almost anything!" (boasts SkyMall, at least). The $30, 6.9-ounce accessory will hold a camera that weighs up to 15 ounces—although as Crave points out, you might want to think twice before using the Monster Pod to secure your $800 SLR to a mossy tree stump.
