T-Mobile Pulls Glitchy Sidekick Slide

The carrier announced that it's "suspending sales" of the newly released Slide after complaints that it powers off unexpectedly when you slide the screen open and closed. Oops.

A T-Mobile rep sent out an e-mail late Friday detailing the Slide's woes and promising that Motorola (maker of the Slide) is "working to identify the root cause" of the problem, which reportedly also wipes all data from the phone. The e-mail also states that other Sidekick models, including the new LX, aren't affected by the glitch.

So, what to do? If you're the unlucky owner of a bad Slide, contact T-Mobile; the carrier will either let you exchange it for the pricier Sidekick LX or apply the cost to another T-Mobile phone. No details on a cash refund, although I'd certainly expect T-Mobile to honor such a request.

I've had a test Slide for a couple of weeks and haven't had any trouble, even after repeatedly sliding the screen open and closed. Any Slide owners out there with problems?

Buy a Blackberry Curve, buy a MicroSD card (around $15 - $20), Subscribe to BIS Internet ($20 a month), Buy the Jivetalk IM program ($20). Now your phone can do whatever a Sidekick does, and do whatever it doesn't do, like turning a Mp3 into ringtones, Wifi, and watch videos loaded onto the MicroSD card.

you can have mp3's as ringtones without having to buy them if u have the usb cables and the music to do it with..i have been with t-mobile for 2 years and mp3's is all i have on my phone for ringtones and they all came from my puter...so if ur phone has an mp3 player on it u can put mp3's on ur phone as ringtones..

Cash refund? T-Mobile? Yea right - if you are a current customer they could care less - they are all about new business - no support for the weary - i had a razr that went bad and had it replaced - they sent a refurbished one that didn't last a month - then told me too bad go buy a phone or you can cancel for $200 per line - it's not fun being held hostage by a company that you send over 100 bucks to each month...ransom money?

i got the new sidekick slide, and it took a whole week just to receive the registration info on my phone. by the way, if you slide it took fast and hard, it might shut off. my advice is just to slide it slowly. and if the registration info doesn't come in a week (on your phone), then you could go back to the store and get the sidekick lx. it's not that nice though.

Glad to see that they can fix the side kick, but can they fix the t-mobile wing from ending a call when the phone is locked.

My husband and I both have Oceans by Helio. It is so much more reliable and the customer service is awesome. It's expensive from the get go because the company doesn't offer free phones for contract signing, but I'd much rather pay for quality than deal with junk. Plus, it's a dual slider so times where I just want to make a phone call, I don't need to mess with the keypad. The screen is decent size, and reorients itself depending on the side that is open at the time. It's nice to finally have a phone plan that makes sense, we pay $140 a month for 2 phones, 1000 minutes (free mobile to mobile and nights and weekends), and unlimited texting, data transfer, internet access. Plus it came with google maps, and garmin can be rented by the day if you need something to "talk" the directions to you. And, it's html compatible, so most websites work just fine on it.

Can you get cell-phones from different phone companies if you're phone company is different? By the way, how much is a Sidekick and a BlackBerry Curve?

I currently have a sidekick 3 and I can tell you I HATE IT! Everyone are entitled to there opinions and to me I trully feel it's not something that I can stick with anymore. T-MOBILE Customer Service, even worst! They can't help you with Anything which is why i'm canceling my plan and it's definetely worth paying $200 for the early termination as long as I don't have to deal with T-MOBILE! We've exchanged the sidekick 5 times and all they do is apologize and don't even re-cognize that they see us having to change sidekicks all the time with the same issue or even worst when they should offer something else but no, all they do is apologize or say "better luc next time" which i think they are not worth my money at all! To me paying T-MOBILE is a waste! That's just my opinion!

i love the t-mo service. i've had them for 4 years now. as a delivery driver i have to say it is an awesome company. i just got the Nokia 5300 music xpress...i love it. it is a slider. i can use the MP3 songs as ringtones and since my husband have a collection of MP3's about the size of the north american continent i will never have to pay for another ringtone as long as i live. the camera quality leaves a little to be desired, but all in all it is great. I AM A NOKIA FAN as well. I went to a razr for a little over a year and wanted a nokia back for as long as i had the darn thing. i can either email or use the USB cord to save my pics and videos as well as my voice recordings as needed...no i do not work for them, but as long as they are around i will have them as my phone company. unlimited texting and pic messages to anyone 9 bucks a month for all my phones (i have 3 lines), and i pay less for my 3 lines and 3000 min than my dad does for 2500 and 2 lines with ATT.

I have a sidekick and the service is horrible. There is a possibility you can get botted right off the interne tfor no reason. Then the service says network unavialable and then you get no service until morning. It always says searching. There is no point in calling T Mobile all they tell you is to get a new sim card. Even right now its not working since last night. The only thing I can do is make phone calls.

Okay so Sidekicks are cool and everything, but they can brake like a toothpick, like if you drop it, and then accidentaly step on it one time, itll brake. But yeah. And RAZRZ are cool, but EVERYBODY has them...So yeah =]] Blackberry's are cool too, so yeah =]] ii LOV3 Myy BOYFRii3ND *ANDR3W*

Is T-mobile trying to send to much data through these phones which is causing them to turn on and off is anybody else having problems with the Nokia XpressMusic phones.
