T-Mobile Pulls Glitchy Sidekick Slide

The carrier announced that it's "suspending sales" of the newly released Slide after complaints that it powers off unexpectedly when you slide the screen open and closed. Oops.

A T-Mobile rep sent out an e-mail late Friday detailing the Slide's woes and promising that Motorola (maker of the Slide) is "working to identify the root cause" of the problem, which reportedly also wipes all data from the phone. The e-mail also states that other Sidekick models, including the new LX, aren't affected by the glitch.

So, what to do? If you're the unlucky owner of a bad Slide, contact T-Mobile; the carrier will either let you exchange it for the pricier Sidekick LX or apply the cost to another T-Mobile phone. No details on a cash refund, although I'd certainly expect T-Mobile to honor such a request.

I've had a test Slide for a couple of weeks and haven't had any trouble, even after repeatedly sliding the screen open and closed. Any Slide owners out there with problems?

My sidekick slide will just randoml shut off and I have to let it stay off for a while then turn it back on and wait for everything to come back....that f ing sucks. Because it takes all ur numbers as well. I honestly don't like my sidekick...what's the point in having bluetooth on a phone if u can't even use it? And the "Sidekick Ringtone Selection" SUCKS! T zones has a MUCH BIGGER selection still. This phones a P O S!
