Yeah, that combination iPod dock/toilet paper holder is pretty bad, but wait till you see the iPod dog jacket—or the iPod teeth whitener. No, I'm not kidding.

Podcasting News just published its annual holiday guide to the worst...well, "iCr@p," as the editors so delicately put it, and I must say, they've outdone themselves with this year's picks. Among 2007's lowlights:

  • Rock My Teeth: Remember this one—a mouthpiece that supposedly whitens your teeth while you rock out to your favorite tunes? It made headlines back in October, and blogger Chris Null went so far as to test it on his own pearly whites. (For the record, he reported that his teeth looked a tiny bit whiter, although the discomfort and potential embarrassment outweigh the oh-so-slight benefits.) Fifty clams get you the mouthpiece, an iPod cable, and 50 whitening strips. My advice? Skip the thing and start flossing instead.
  • Griffin iBeams: Snap this little attachment into your iPod's dock connector and it'll fire off a little laser beam. Fun, right? That is, until someone burns their eye out (as Class IIIA lasers are wont to do).
  • iPod Socks: Irresistable little stocking stuffers, invariably found near the checkout line at your local Apple Store. They come in sets of six, all in different colors, and they protect your precious iPod from the elements—and from your fingers, as well, given that they completely cover the controls and screen. Oh, and the package is six costs a cool $30.
  • iPod dog jacket: This cozy jacket for Spot comes with an iPod dock and a pair of speakers, with a remote woven into the leash. Just hit "play" to turn your four-legged friend into a waddling (and very unhappy) jukebox. Fortunately, the iPod dog jacket is only a concept, for now—let's hope its creators were just pulling our collective leg.
  • TuneBuckle: Yet another iPod case, except this time, it turns an iPod Nano into a belt buckle. So cool...except, as Podcasting News points out, your Nano will now bear the brunt of the damage if you happen to bump into any furniture; also, good luck reading the screen.

Click through to Podcasting News for the rest of the list, including the Teresa Chat Diva Singing Doll and LG's patent for an iPod Washing Machine (now why didn't I think of that?).

I have to disagree on the socks. My brother gave these to me for Christmas a couple years ago and they have been the best iPod accessory I own. For one thing, they are compatible with all incarnations, and they dont really break (unlike all my other accessories). Obviously, to be useful, you must have a need for them. My wife and I wrap our iPods in two different colors to tell them apart, and the sock protects hers from getting scratched up in her purse. 30 bucks is a bit much in the real world, but not in the world of iPod accessories.

How about any radio with an Ipod dock in it. Wimpy little speakers that make your ipod sound like a clock radio. Get out of the ipod accessory section and head over the the old school cable section of your local electronics store. You can buy a $4 cord that converts your headphone output to an RCA ouput and conect it to a real stereo aux input. I guess I shouldn't expect people to be able to figure this out since they are the same dolts that need to buy monthly subscriptions for their DVR's because they never figured out how to program a VCR.

I believe if you forgo the big bucks for an iPhone or Ipod, you can at least spend 5 bucks for a SillySTicker. These stickers use RecoveryIDs Lost and Found Web Service, and increases you chances of recovery 1000 fold. Mark SillySTicker.com
