I'm not one to say no to chocolate or flowers, but both are fleeting and one is fattening. These gift ideas are not only a little more high-tech, but they're made to stay fresh forever.

Digital frames are coming down in price and the wireless versions are starting to be plentiful. So how cool would it be to send your Valentine a fresh photo every morning, right to their personal frame? FrameChannel is like having your own private line into somebody's picture frame. (Think of it like YouTube for  picture frames.)  You can program the picture frame from the FrameChannel website. In addition to sending new photos, you can set up the web site to send RSS feeds to the frame.Send stock quotes, news, weather, or even a daily love blog from you. FrameChannel is a free service and supports many popular digital frames.*

If you think it wouldn't take much to do better than writing lines "my love is like a red red rose," then you should think about making your own book of love poems. Poetry.com is one of many sites that will let you create a book. It offers a hard-cover binding, illustrations, and other nice touches. A single edition will set you back $50, but so will a decent bottle of champagne.

Start a multimedia love blog: Check in to a place called OurStory. It's got tools for you to create a multimedia love story: photos, videos, text, and more. What a nice way to reaffirm your love.

Can't decide between diamonds and tech? The Swarovski and Philips Electronics Active Crystals are a line of crystal high tech jewels. The one I like is a crystal heart that encases a flash drive. The drive holds a gigabyte—which is about 250 songs. To be extra special you can fill the flash heart with music.

Down with love? The bah-humbug of Valentine's Day can be found at ThinkGeek. Whether you're feeling dumped or dejected, on this day you can always indulge in tasty hearts with insightful thoughts on the downside of love: SETTLE FOR LESS, DIGNITY FREE, I GOT SOBER, and more.

I've corrected the error about FrameChannel and noted it with an asterisk. It is a free site; there is no fee for using it to send feeds to a wireless picture frame.
