Creatures
of habit that we are, we sometimes get into a gadget rut, forgetting that our iPods
are probably capable of a lot more than what we do with them. So far, I've used
mine for listening to music and podcasts, watching movies (which isn't my idea
of film appreciation), and receiving RSS feeds. But I didn't know what I was
missing until I stumbled across "100 Ways to Use Your iPod to Learn and
Study Better" from the Online Education Database (OEDb).
Many of the suggestions are free, while some have a low-cost fee. There's not a loser in the bunch, and they come from some far-flung places on the Web.
Some are tutorials:
Some are applications that make learning easier:
Some are for lifelong learners:
And some are meant to augment other studies:
Get through those 100 and you'll find another 50 at kottke.org

LOL...Very true. People who have to settle for IPOD, are very apt candidates for IQ improvement. Good to hear that the product will nudge those folks to move bit.
Wow, you know what else can make you smarter? Books, ever heard of those?
u guys r laaame
There's a delicate balance in methodology between stimulating the brain to create new synapses of learned information, and overwhelming the brain with information. Sensory overload is a major problem in Western culture today. I write on this and similar neuroscience topics. www.diaceph.com

I learned basic economics from an iPod. BY NOT BUYING ONE! I learned that I can spend 1/2 as much, & get an mp3 player that does TWICE as much! This lesson can be learned from any Apple product. Buy anything else & you'll get something better, with more features, more power , and you won't have to pay the "Steve Tax" that all the iTards do.
yay!!!!!!!! iPods are actualy good for something.
Wow so how much money did Apple pay you to write this craptastic article? The best way to improve your IQ? Don't buy an ipod.
It's one of those "it's a good idea but won't work thing". Sure we can increase our IQ by putting educational stuff on out iPod but seriously, the iPod is made for music and such and everybody is going to use them that way. Beside, this sound more like an ad than a help thing. "iPod increases IQ!!!". Yeah, so does reading a good book or newspaper, which happens to be a lot cheeper too. Lets THINK for once here.
Blah Blah Blah! Ipod + Steve Jobs + You = Freakshow! Only a moron would give that man their money. Wake up you brainwashed masses! You are being totally manipulated and you don't even know it!
Okay people has Microsoft or any portable media player gone as far as to show their product for anything educational? I take the silence as a no. At least apple and other companies are trying to show how the iPod can be used other than a cheat machine in schools. All you iPod haters can just keep the complaints down.
I put my language CDs on my iPod and listen to the lessons for 4 languages anytime anywhere. Easier than carrying all those CDs and a CD player. I keep the CDs for the car.
