In the "at least they don't talk back" category, we got the exclusive on a new research study being released today that shows Americans have a troubling relationship with computers.
According to the study, 65 percent of consumers are spending more time with a computer than with their significant other. The study, commissioned by SupportSoft, Inc., a provider of computer support services, and conducted by Kelton Research, surveyed 1,000 Americans.
The survey also found that eight out of 10 Americans (84 percent) say they are more dependent on their home computer now than they were just three years ago.
The study looked into consumers' relationships with their computers. The findings:
SupportSoft is about to launch support.com, an online service offering what they're hoping will be stress-free tech support. In keeping with the relationship theme, the spokesperson for this effort is Dr. Robi Ludwig, psychotherapist and host of TLC's reality series "One Week to Save a Marriage."
For me, that old joke comes to mind with a slight variation: If you were in a sinking boat with your computer and your spouse and could only save one of them…

get core 2 duo and overclock it to 3 ghz
note: some computer vendors don't let you overclock

I know from my personal experiance this seems to be true
