My favorite "desktop" phone theme of the moment is the "Sunday Comics" theme (by Plazmic) for BlackBerry devices. It's a cartoonish version of the BlackBerry desktop that treats each icon as a comic-book panel. I installed it on my Pearl a couple of weeks ago and am having a blast with it.
For mail, I get a comic-book drawing of an envelope with a sound bubble—usually reserved for onomatopoeic words like "Blam" and "Pow"—informing me of a new message. Or for "BlackBerry Messenger," I get a dialogue bubble that alternates between "Hello" and "Hi There" when I scroll over it. In fact, all of the icons transform into something else when I scroll over them. Plus, I love the quasi-handwritten, comic-style font that's used for everything from menus to emails.
I'm not even that into comic books, but I'd recommend this theme to anyone who wants to spice up a staid business BlackBerry device or just add some gravy-like dressing to an already hip Pearl. It just makes an otherwise typical day of tossing around information and communiqués a little more interesting.
It looks like this theme has been around for a while, but no one—even my pals at T-Mobile—seems to have seen it, hence my shoutout. If you have a BlackBerry, you can easily download directly to your device on the BlackBerry home page or by clicking on the T-Zones icon (if you have a Pearl).
Anyone have any other favorite themes for BlackBerry?
Our team is on it and we should have everything back to normal shortly. Please come back soon.
