My dad bought one of these (40-inch Sony Bravia LCD HDTV), and it's gorgeous. But beware, it needed repairs after 3 months. It's still under full warranty, but that doesn't mean they hurry. There was basically one repair guy for the tri-state area, so he was only available to make a repair every 2-3 weeks. Also, parts have to be ordered which takes 2-3 weeks each. My dad actually went without his TV 3 MONTHS before they finally just bought him a new one. I could go into more detail, but suffice it to say that this sort of thing is not uncommon with any brand of flatscreen HDTV. This information came from the repairman himself. For this reason, I would not put this TV in the "work of art" category at this point.
hi.my wife and i bought sony 40inch bravia lcd tv 11month ago.since than every 3-4 weeks tv broke down.shop change 3 top boxes and sony repair shop change 2.all sony models.3weeks ago they gave me pioneer model of the top box who fail again.sony reps saying that fold coming from antenna and not of tv itself.we can't put a blame on top box any more, because we tried different brands.could any one, please, pinpoint a fault.we watch tv for past 11month no more that 2-3 weeks.
Anyone wishing to purchase a giant TV now should be informed that LCD and Plasma are now rapidly on the way out. New technology has been released, Laser TV, is expected to be the "Plasma Killer" and is way better than either Plasma or LCD. LaserVue Televisions are now available in two sizes starting at 65" and the picture is far superior to other televisions. Be informed that Laser Televisions have fewer, cheaper, parts and prices, which are high now due to being scarce, will drop over time. Plasma and LCD should be completely obsolete in another 18 months or so, except for tiny screen sizes. For more information, look up LaserVue on the WWW or just search for Laser Television.

I just bought mine about a wek ago and so far it's fantastic. The color was so vivid I had to set it down a notch. As for setup I think my kids could do it, if you can read you can install it yourself.....
