The Magellan Explorist 210 GPS device is meant for folks who will use it hunting, hiking or geo-caching. It's not like the GPS devices you traditionally use for driving from point A to point B; turn by turn directions are not what this product offers.
The Explorist is a small hand-held device that weighs just under 6 ounces. It runs off of 2 AA batteries, which gives it about a 17-hour life span. It has 22-megabytes of on board storage for up to 500 waypoints and 20 routes, it comes with 10-megabytes of preloaded basemap data.
The Explorist 210 has a rubberized shell, so it's pretty rugged. I dropped it from a tree I was trying to jump out of, and the device was completely unharmed (I ended up slightly bruised). The Explorist is also water-resistant; I poured a steady stream of water onto its face for about a minute, and it didn't show any signs of damage. The 2.5-inch LCD screen is black and white; it's back-lit with a cool red light.

Pray that you never need tech support. I have had a nupmber of problems with the 210 since purchasing it less than a year ago. I have spent an unbelievable number of hours speaking to people in India who have provided usatisfactory service and broken promise after promise. They promised to call back, but they don't. They promise shipment of a replacement, but fail to deliver it over and over. If you want the most aggravating experience of your life, buy Magellan. I WILL NEVER BUY MAGELLAN AGAIN!
