The Garmin StreetPilot 330 is an in-car navigation device that does a good job getting you from point A to point B and also helps locate the nearest McDonalds along the way. The device is simple to use; its 3.5-inch LCD screen is touch sensitive. You punch in an address, and then the StreetPilot displays either a birds-eye map or a three-dimensional map, and it lists turn-by-turn directions.
The StreetPilot also announces your upcoming turns from its built-in speakers. The standard model can announce directions in an amazing array of languages (a separate version also offers 5 different Asian languages). The StreetPilot attaches to your windshield using an included suction cup. The device gets its power from an included car-charger cable, and it has an internal battery that holds a 4 hour charge. The StreetPilot comes preloaded with Garmin's City Select maps but does not have real time traffic capabilities. For that you'll need to upgrade to the StreetPilot 340.
For some other GPS devices, check out this round-up that includes the Tom-Tom and the Magellan Roadmate.

I am a truck driver and I have a street pilot c530. I had the c330. Both are great units but to the writer liteluvr I wanted to respond to your suggestion about not saving a "here" spot. Try this ok....If you have past your spot and decided you want to save where you are at....just tap the screen and it should ask you if you want to save it. Put it in favorites and name it...away you go. I know these things like the back of my hand.you can input phone numbers too! Also when inputing addresses..DO NOT put in "south" or "west" etc..The unit will find the address directions.

Oh, but you can save your current location as a favorite. You select "go to" from the menu and then select "map" which is about the third page down. The map is showing exactly where you are. Select save this location and then name it. And then put it n your favorites or just as a recently selected place. You just did no go down far enough, the Garmin documentation could be a bit more explanatory of all the functions.

I have a Garmin 330c which is a good GPS system in its functionality. However, I developed a crack in the clip that fastens it to the window mount and eventually the clip broke off of the back of the GPS unit. Now I can not secure the GPS to the window. If I were to get into an accdent while using my GPS it could become a lethal projectile. I reported my problem to Garmin and they are replacing my unit. Good customer service experience.

I have 2 and I love them. One for each car. I do not like the fact that I have to purchase new maps for $70 on-line but as far as I am concerned it is worth it. I am in sales and must travel all across 2 states to homes in the middle of nowhere and it has yet to fail me. Very easy to use.

Best gift I have ever gotten. I have used this for over 2 years and love it. If you touch the screen and touch locations, it will save it in favorites for later. It is a gotta have, just like a spare tire.

Answering in Feb. 2009: This unit is long since obsolete. I bought one in early 20007 to trplace my little bitty early model that had an even smaller screen. I had to have a unit (I travel on business). The Garmin 330c is worlds better than a Tom tom of the day but this model Garmin has serious deficiencies. It does not have a non-glare screen and it is physically of a too large and somewhat impractical shape. I wanted a 550 model but these were just introduces at the time and I could not wait. I am now using a model 205W and it has only one shortcoming ; not enough detail. It does have aslot fo a SD card so I suppose I could add a complete Delorme and/or a complete set of Microsoft Streets and Trips if I wanted too!

I bought mine for a x-mas present for a family member for only $80 on buy.com, after using for them for a week to try it out I went back and got myself and brother one. Its a great product for what I paid however I don't think there making them anymore. They discontinued them from what I heard. i tried to get friends some and couldn't.. Whoever has an answer to that please let me know. Thanks, Moxie

I own this exact model and love it. I paid $190 for the unit at Walmart. It is cheaper now. The only negative I have found with this unit after one year of use it the windshield suction mount. It does not hold very well and after it fell from the windshield the 3rd time, I bought a dash mount which works perfectly.

I just purchased an SD card with maps for Scandinavia for my Garmin 330C. I put the card in - no problem, but I'm not sure that the gps is "reading" the card. The manual is VERY unclear as to what needs to be done. I'd hate to get to Finland and find out my Garmin C330 can't read the card. Then I'd be very lost. Can anyone help?

Heh, I was just wondering that myself. I was thinking, I have this model, and I know at this point, as far as technology goes, it's only so-so. I mean, I think the thing is GREAT, but when I see newer ones I feel almost sad for mine.

This seems to be a three year old wrteup. I gave my 330 away to an associate that long ago. The 330 is physically too large, needs a larger and ANTI-GLARE screen. I bt a NUVI 205W and it cleared up all of my problems with the 330. In California it is no longer legal to use the windshield mount. I use the round adhesive disc and the set is about one foot closer to my 73 year old eyeballs. And the round disc is innocuous, avoiding break-ins by thieves when the set is under the seat. The windshield suction cup leaves tell tale rings on the windshield. The 205 is a little short on map detail. Kind of wish I had bought a 255W.

Garmin set of products has something for everyone. Their product line is user friendly and Garmin makes a GPS for every user level. If you don't currently own one or are looking to upgrade their is a model out there for you

The really doesn't tell me anything about this GPS that most GPS's don't already have... The article is very simplistic and doesn't tell you why THIS GPS is better than others.
