Make Your Own Soda at Home

The Soda Club is an $89 device that lets you make your own soda at home. No more carting cases or bottles of soda from the grocery store, no more cans to recycle, and a significant saving on every beverage you imbibe.

Watch the video to see how the Soda Club turns tap water into carbonated water and consider the savings involved. Factoring in the cost of the CO2 cartridge that creates the carbonation and the syrups you buy to make flavored sodas, each flavored home-made Soda Club drink costs about 25 cents. Compare that to the 45 cent average on store-bought sodas, and in 445 drinks, the Soda Club pays for itself. Plus it's a great choice for trying to be green: no manufacturing for the soda or using aluminum for cans or plastic for bottles, and no transportation costs to get the soda cans to the store.

I have this product in my house, and as a huge drinker of club soda, it is a dream. I never run out, my grocery bags are a lot lighter, and my grocery bills are a little lower.

I also drink a huge amount of soda. I looked at the sodamaker but it was really expensive. I thought there has got to be a cheaper way. Finally I found plans to make a home made system that is WAY cheaper than the sodamaker -- I can make seltzer for less than 2 cents a liter! Here is where I found the plans to build your own soda and seltzer system in about 10 minutes for less than $100 bucks. www.makesodaandseltzer.com It's serving me well and I am making some delicious sodas! And I don't end up using all that plastic, or even worse, shipping all that water!

Makes great soda, and you can flavor with "ade" (Kool-aid) mixes and your choice of sweetener. That's even cheaper. Done it years ago in Washington state after buying one, or at least a similar one, at a home and garden show.

I seen one of these also years ago. Dif/name but same thing at home coke machine. only the one 15yr ago had name brands and the flavor was inserted just like the ones you see at taco bell or anywhere. from behind and during the co2 process.

Actually, this one hasn't been available here long. My friend had one in Germany that worked great, back in 2001. I checked online for about a year and a half to find one because I lived in a 4th floor walkup. Due to the larger CO2 canister which isn't/wasn't legal to transport in the US unless you're a business with a special permit, I found it wasn't possible to get one in the US. I did get a soda maker that uses the small, thumb sized canisters, but so far all of the gas canisters have some nasty metallic funk to them, so it's mostly just decorative. (Does this version use the larger canister or a series of small ones?) If someone could recommend a non-ISI CO2 soda canister that doesn't taste foul, I'd love to hear it.

I have had one for about 1 1/2yrs now. Love it. The fizz last for almost a week. 2 litter bottles fizz out in less than 12 hours. You can buy the machine at: sodaclubusa.com You can buy the soda mix (50o ml makes about 12 litters) for $5- 8 most $5. The refill carbonators come w/ a post paid return box, so you don't have to deal w/ the empty carbonators. On the soda mix you don't have to add the full amount of flavoring. Makes cutting down on pop easier- keep using less and less flavoring until your just drinking seltzer water. You can even adjust the amount of fizz it will produce.

Brought back memories of growing up in Scotland and using the Sodastream machine - same idea. CO2 cartridge and different flavoured syrups. Be interested to compare the taste of this. Sodastream was ok when you were a kid, but would want something better now. Maybe Costco will have a demo sometime!!!

Soda makers have been in the UK market for at least 20years. Like any gadget great to begin with then the novelty wears off

I too think it's terric, economically and green wise! Just a cautionary note though, don't go pigging out as carbonated drinks have been shown to leach calcium from the body.

We're pretty happy with it. It saves us about 50 to 60 bucks a month. and we dont need to rush out to the shops on sundays to buy more. I say, put it in the TV room, NOT the kitchen got it from http://makeyoursoda.com

I got mine about 3 weeks back and we are just loving it. if you a big soda fan or have a family who all enjoy soda, then you just got to get one. and we saved 10 bucks by using a discount code at http://makeyoursoda.com The code is SODA10 gonna go make me another soda right now....

JJones- about freshness of the soda. The best part is that you just make as much soda as you need. I used to waste a lot of soda buying those big bottles and then throwing them out when they no longer fresh. and it takes under a minute to make. my kids even do it. and I just paid $89 at http://makeyoursoda.com the discount code was SODA10

The math is a little suspect.. At 25c per serving (a soda can is 12oz so let's assume that is the serving size), 64oz (2L) from this machine costs $1.33 (5.33 x $.25). Compared to Coke or Pepsi at $1.25 a bottle, and there is no cost savings at all. And if you go store brand (since this machine isn't making Coke or Pepsi either) those are closer to $1 per a bottle and you are paying a 30% premium to make your own soda. Ok so you get to cut back on the transport, and I get that.. But don't sell this as a cost saver. You'll NEVER make back the $90.
