Hot on the heels of the Guitar Hero World Tour announcement, Harmonix upped the ante in the Battle of the Bands this week by announcing Rock Band 2, a sequel to the mega-popular musical video game.
Information at this point is pretty scarce, but small tidbits of information have surfaced about the upcoming game thanks to an interview on IGN.com
First, all original Rock Band downloadable content (DLC) will be future-compatible with Rock Band 2, allowing you to continue playing your downloaded content in the updated version. You will not have to repurchase any content, and all songs should be instantly compatible from day 1.
Second, according to Lead Designer Dan Teasdale, newer, quieter instruments that boast higher reliability are in the pipeline. This should come as good news to the users who have had Rock Band-related equipment failure (guitar strumming and bass drum pedal).
Get all of the details by reading the full interview here at IG. Expect to see Rock Band hit stores in September, and keep your eyes peeled for more information out of Harmonix's official unveiling at this year's E3 conference.
