Apple is recalling the "Ultracompact USB Power Adapter"—the nifty, ultra-small power adapter that comes bundled with the new iPhone 3G. From Apple (via Engadget):
Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter's metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported.
Apple also notes that you should immediately stop using the adapter under any circumstances and use an alternative USB power source, like your PC's USB port or third-party chargers, in order to charge your iPhone.
To get an exchange, you can either head over to Apple's website to place an order, or starting October 10, you can head into any Apple store (with the adapter and iPhone 3G in hand) to receive a replacement on the spot.
Additionally, if you have purchased the power adapter seperately, you are entitled to receiving a replacement for that device.
For more information regarding the recall, head over to Apple.com.
