Role-playing video game titan Square Enix announced a brand new, turn-based RPG named "Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes" for the iPod and iPod nano.
Those familiar with Square Enix's turn-based tactical RPG series "Final Fantasy Tactics" will understand basic gameplay mechanics. However, Song Summoner has one big ace up its sleeve.
The concept behind Song Summoner is extremely clever. Instead of having generic characters added to your roster like in typical games, your soldiers are assembled by loading individual MP3s located on your iPod. Different songs will yield different characters. For instance, "One more time" by Daft Punk will create a character completely different than Kanye West's "Stronger".
Of course, create-a-character schemes like this aren't new (anyone remember Barcode Battler?), but I applaud Square Enix for applying this idea to MP3 libraries.
To find out more about this game, check out Square Enix's newly launched Song Summoner splash page covering all of the details. Oh, and I forgot to mention—it's only $5!
As for me, I'll be making an army based on Michael Jackson's discography. Beat it + Smooth Criminal + Thriller = unstoppable.

Does it also work with non-iPod mp3 players?
