- Connect your iPod to your computer (iPod Shuffle excluded).
- Click the iPod Options icon in the lower right of the iTunes screen. The Preferences dialog box will open.
- Under the Photos tab check Synchronize Photos From, which is followed by a drop-down menu. In Windows machines your My Pictures folder will be automatically selected. If you want a different folder scroll down to pick Choose Folder.
Choose either Copy All Photos or Copy Selected Folders Only (Figure 1).

Figure 1: In typical Apple fashion, dealing with photos on the iPod is a lot easier and simpler than it could be.
- If you chose the Copy Selected Folders Only option, choose the folder you wish to import.
- iTunes will create smaller versions of your photos to import for display on your iPod.
From the same dialog box, you may also choose to include photos at full resolution. Since this is mainly for displaying at high resolutions when hooked up to TVs, you should probably leave this off for now.
The iPod's color screen was designed for photos, but it adds a few other cool features, such as the ability to see full-color artwork (usually album art) as a song plays. In order to view album art on your iPod, make sure to check Display Album Artwork in your iPod, under the iPod | Music in iPod Options.
