iPod & iTunes: AirPort-to-Stereo Digital Connection

If your stereo has a digital optical TOSlink input, use this method for cleaner sound to connect AirPort Express to your stereo. Apple doesn't include any audio cables with the AirPort Express, so you'll need to buy a digital optical TOSlink cable.

  1. Connect one end of the digital optical TOSlink cable to the AirPort Express.
  2. Connect the other end of the TOSlink cable to your stereo's digital optical input.
  3. Select the digital auxiliary input on your stereo.
  4. Assuming you've already set up the AirPort Express in iTunes, you can now play iTunes through your stereo.
