iPod & iTunes: Enable Access to the iPod's Disk

Aside from the games, in order to take advantage of most of the iPod's extra features, such as the Contacts, Calendar, and Notes features, you'll need to expand the ability to write to the iPod's disk drive beyond the usual song transfer. This is easily accomplished.

  1. Connect the iPod to your computer.
  2. Select Edit | Preferences to open iPod preferences. Make sure the iPod tab in preferences is selected and the Music tab is selected under the iPod category.

  3. Check the box next to Enable Disk Use.

If you've already chosen Manually Manage Songs And Playlists under the Music tab, Enable Disk Use will be selected automatically and will appear grayed out and unable to be changed.
