Rotating Digital Photos in the File Browser

If your camera does not have an option to rotate images, pictures that were photographed with a vertical composition will be displayed horizontally in the File Browser. You can rotate images as needed so that they display properly in the File Browser:

  1. Open an image folder.
  2. Select the image thumbnails that are not displayed properly. Click a thumbnail image to select it and then CTRL-click (Windows), or COMMAND-click (Macintosh), to select additional images you want to rotate.
  3. Click the Rotate icon at the bottom of the File Browser to rotate selected images 90 degrees clockwise.
  4. ALT-click (Windows) or OPTION-click (Macintosh) the Rotate icon at the bottom of the File Browser to rotate selected images 90 degrees counterclockwise, as shown next.

After rotating the thumbnails, Photoshop Elements displays a dialog box telling you that only the thumbnails are rotated and that the images will be rotated the next time the files are opened in Photoshop Elements.
