If your camera does not have an option to rotate images, pictures that were photographed with a vertical composition will be displayed horizontally in the File Browser. You can rotate images as needed so that they display properly in the File Browser:
- Open an image folder.
- Select the image thumbnails that are not displayed properly. Click a thumbnail image to select it and then CTRL-click (Windows), or COMMAND-click (Macintosh), to select additional images you want to rotate.
- Click the Rotate icon at the bottom of the File Browser to rotate selected images 90 degrees clockwise.
ALT-click (Windows) or OPTION-click (Macintosh) the Rotate icon at the bottom of the File Browser to rotate selected images 90 degrees counterclockwise, as shown next.

After rotating the thumbnails, Photoshop Elements displays a dialog box telling you that only the thumbnails are rotated and that the images will be rotated the next time the files are opened in Photoshop Elements.
