Windows XP Internet Connection Headaches: Downloading information from the Internet is slow.

Cause Your modem can only work as fast as the modem at your ISP will let it work. If you get connected to a slow modem, the download rate will be slow. When you are connected, you should see an icon in your notification area. Hold your mouse over the icon and a pop-up will tell you how fast your connection is working.

The Pain Killer There is no way to solve the problem since the problem is on your ISP's end. You can try disconnecting and reconnecting, hoping you'll get a faster modem connection, but if the problem persists, you should contact your ISP for assistance. Also, the web site itself could be very busy and simply slow—you can try using a different web site and see if that helps.
