PDAs : Palm m505 handheld

an excelent choise if you need a color palm and the size and design like the palm v.
It is so small, expandible and colorfull that\'s hard to imagine how they manage to do it.
It comes with a lot of bundled sofware, everything a business person need. Remember that as the palm v it is design for profesionals, it is to expensive and not useful for a studet or ocasional user.
The most important element is the new ligth and the new screen, it can display 65000 colors but it can seem a little dark under low light but it is fine, and with the side light is mazing. Remember the importance of the batery life and a lighter screen will consume to much of it. Hide Full Review

I have been purchasing a new palm every couple of years. The m505 for me is a disappointment because it is riddled with problems.
(1) USB Hotsync cradle ceases to work after a couple months. Palm has finally admitted that there is a glitch. The good news is that you are still able to hotsync with the serial cable ($19.99) and can continue to use the crade for charging the battery. (I have had this problem and have had friends with it as well)
(2) The on button has been reported to get stuck. Some people had the luck of pushing really hard to get it to work. Others have had to trade in. (I have had this problem and have had friends with it as well)
(3) Some people have complained that the screen is not too bright and they end up running down the batteries. (I have NOT had this problem but have had friends with it.)

In retrospect, I would have probably purchased the Sony Clie instead although it is a bit more expensive. The color/resolution is much better, the MP3 feature and the ability to play videos. In addition, it uses the PalmOs software. Hide Full Review

I have hadnothing but problems since I got my m505 2 years ago.
Everytime I detach it from the cradle it locks up. I have to use the pin to reboot it EVERY TIME!!
In addition, the color screen is dismally dim compared to other brands with a much lower price tag/

I recently received an email from Palm Support regarding a class action lawsuit Palm lost where the plaintiff charges that the handsets may be defective.
Given my problems, I'd agree, as my unit has been replaced at least 4 times by Palm, still with the same problem.
I have told them I do not want another m505, but they refuse to migrate/upgrade me to another product.

Alas this will be my last Palm.
I had a Palm V, then a Vx, now the m505.
Hey, I still have my old Compaq Aero. That has a much better color screen and is way more reliable!
I could just go back to that I guess!
