Car Tech : TomTom ONE

I have had the TomTom for one month and put John Cleese as the voice. I love it. I've even tried to confuse it and turn the opposite than it said and very calmly it acted as if it was expected and told me how to still get home in the direction that I had turned. LOVE IT! Hide Full Review

I bought this after 3 months of research on gadget review sites in US and UK. Everybody had the best of things to say about it.

I got it for $278. Just switched it on and it was set to go. The instructions were clear, well in advance and it just has the best GPS receivers.

On the flip side I couldnt use the TomTom Plus services coz it requires u to have unlimited internet access thru ur phone (That wud cost an extra $20 per month with T-Mobile).

Some of the roads in Jersey City - North Bergen that were closed two years back are still form a part of the route in TomTom One.

Otherwise, I've had no problems at all. I just enter the destination i wish to go and its all set. When I want to return home I have to just hit twice on the touch screen and I have the path in front of me. Its a great value for the money ! Hide Full Review

I love this little gadget. It's so fun to use and is a great help on the road in unfamiliar areas. The ONE is a great device because it is very accurate and comes with the latest maps. It's ready to use right out of the box and is a breeze to use. I'm no tech genius and I was familiar with the interface in no time. It's very small and portable and is a quality device for the price. this unit is unbelievably accurate, it told me to turn left in a parking lot to get to the road. i bought this after having to return a diffrent brand unit that gave inaccurate directions all the time (it would put me in front of a house a half mile away.) my dad and my brother have the same unit. turn it on, it knows where you are (even in the house just with less accuracy). my dad's unit came with an sd card. mine did not, but it works perfectly without it. when plugged into the computer, it showed almost a gig hard drive space total. it doesn't come with a user replaceable battery, but it comes with a car adapter and can be charged from the USB port of a computer - laptop in car that someone might be using the cig. lighter to power, just plu it in and keep it charged. it came with a coupon for a free premium voice - if you don't want to be bored, get "mikey" , he's a laugh. The first thing that stuck out to me about the ONE was its size...I had been doing some research on which GPS would suit me the best, and I thought that a device that was easy to use and portable would be ideal. The size is great - easy to take from car to car or throw in a pocket or bag if you need to carry it along. Being less than savvy with technology, I was also pleased by how easy the device was to figure out. Within minutes, I felt like a pro, but there are still so many features that can be used and customized to get exactly what you want out of a GPS. I would definitely encourage everyone to look at getting a ONE...I was extremely happy with its performance. Hide Full Review
