Security : Apple AirPort Express Base Station with AirTunes

I researched this product for months before finally buying it. I had tried other media streamers and digital media receivers and have been less than impressed. But this product changed all that by making it easy to set up and use, reliable, and working seamlessly with iTunes. This product works great with a Windows system and iTunes and took about 15 minutes to set up, but I must admit the directions were not great. I now have a wireless and wired network with 5 of these Airports set up around the house streaming music all over the place. I rarely get dropped like some people have mentioned and my range is quite good. The only thing I would change is that I would love to also stream pictures and videos to my home theater system. this product is great i just plugged it in the wall then plugged my internet connection to the ethernet port and bam! it was up and running. but if you are connecting to a ISP that does not have DHCP then you must go and manually congfigure the IP address and what not. Hide Full Review

OK. Here is a confession. I am getting increasingly obsessed with Apple as a company and their products that are just mind-blowing with every successive Apple product that I owe. First I brought a 30gig iPod, then the 14-inch iBook and now the accessories such as this wireless solution to go with them. They are all making a ?deep impact? on my mind and I am totally rocked. Everything from the Functionality to a seem-less integration (with other apple and even non-apple products) to a hassle-free setup to slick styling is all just perfect with Apple products. In case of this product for example all I had to do was just plug it up, take a few logical steps in setting up its preferences and there you go. It starts working! I love that feeling. What I like best about Apple products is that they are so responsive and sensitive to the user behavior and needs. I use a lot of other electronic and digital products but the way the Apple products are designed and developed, they are simply a ?pleasant experience? to have. Before I brought this product I had my apprehensions about what all in the scary world of internet/networking will I not need to do to set it up and get it working. And may be will have to grab hold of some network engineer friend of mine to set it up for me. But guess what?... Nothing. No nonsense. Just ?plug and play? in the true essence of the expression. Nice Idea but it was difficult to interperet the instructions. You can't join an existing network as Apple suggests, unless it is an Apple network. Never got the speakers to work and ended up frustrated and ultimately returned the device.
For someone starting a wireless only network it is a good solution. Low profile and does work well with XP. Also has an adequate print server for USB printers. Don't try to integrate this into your existing wireless network. Hide Full Review
