Home Video : Audiovox D1812

We got our Dvd player as a gift about five months ago. I know for a fact that this player was also bought at Sam's Club. We have only used our player for road trips, so we probably watched it a total of ten times. I recently got it out for a trip only to doscover that it no longer works. Our player has the same problem that it seems everyone else is having, it will not read a disc, it just runs and runs.I also have had nothing but problems trying to get in touch with Audiovox. I would not recommend this brand or company to anyone. And to anyone considering this purchase I STRONGLY advise against it. My next purchase will be a good name brand with an extended warranty! Like all the other complaints, my dvd would not read any dvds...got so upset that I banged it around a few times...then I got a dvd/cd maxwell lens cleaner...I used it repeatly, cleaning the lens each before I tried a dvd...well, folks, it worked...it works just like it did when it was new...so the moral is clean the lens at least weekly! I bought this DVD player in Sam Club without extended warranty. The original warranty only cover 90 days.
I played the DVD less than 20 times within 90 days. After 90 days the DVD player would not read any DVD at all. I called Audiovox and complaint about the problem. Audiovox mentioned that they will repair it for $99.99 with 90 days warranty. Why would any one pay $99.99 to fix the problem with only 90 days warranty ? The new one could be purchase slightly more than the repair cost and 90 days warranty definetely would not be a good idea for this product. I would not recommend or purchase any AUDIOVOX PRODUCT in the future any more. Hide Full Review

Purchased from Sam's Club and used it to play about a dozen DVDs. Handled carefully and not abused but it won't read DVDs any more. Very disappointed with this purchase. I could not recommend it to anyone. Hide Full Review

My mother working in the military in Bahrain purchased for me 2 of these dvd players for my daughter and son for Christmas. They never had the opportunity to really use them because family trips are reserved for the summer. They cut them on a few times at home, but not really used them. When we went on our first summer trip neither player would play a dvd, the motor just kept running and displaying loading. The games worked on both. When we were returning from our trip the game stopped working on one, so only the game on one dvd player is operational. I contacted Audiovox and they only offered me to pay $99 for each unit to be repaired. I contacted the Vice President Carl Peters and he offered to fix them at a cost of $70. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and Carl Peters offered to fix them at no charge if I could provide the receipt. He knew the circumstances of the purchase and new a receipt was unavailable. Audiovox fails to stand behind their products and has horrible customer service. All of the complaints are the same and they must know it is a defect. They want customers to pay to fix something they are aware is faulty. I purchased 2 and they both failed. I recommend you invest your money in another company and a better product. The cost to fix the dvd players is not even worth it; use it towards a new one. Hide Full Review
