Security : Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router

Excellent product, beats all my "B" and "G" wireless to hell but yet still compatible at better speeds too. Pricey yes but NOT pricey for what you get. All my "other" wireless routers and sharing ports have now been closeted! The only minor irritant is awaiting USB options on it all. Future compatibility is a question but we have been clearly warned about "N". Who really cares. Our cell phones are outdated by the time we buy them and they cost more ! You gotta be nuts to buy anything else. This is the class winner in backward compatible (B & G), distance (unreal), ease of setup (for those challenged), constant connectivity and total satisfaction (yea baby). This product rocks. All of the advertisements are well founded. I have five acres of land and the signal comes in clear to my properties edge and beyond. With the encryption and MAC address filtering I feel safe broadcasting my personal network (even though I could disable the SSID broadcast). This is one great and easy to use system. One fault though. Usually if you hold in the reset button (10 to 60 seconds) on most other brands the router will go back to the factory default settings but my previous Pre-N router would not and I had to replace it. JUST INCASE DON'T DISABLE THE "Network Address Translation". Once I did the router just became a hub and would no longer function as router. That is of course what should have happened but the master reset button should have also restored the product back to normal.... It did not. Tech support was very friendly and helpful. 24/7 free tech support is always a sweet deal. I took the product back to Circuit City and replaced it only to find that there was now a 20$ rebate. I have been using the router for about a month and I haven't had to reset once or make any changes since I started the network up. I get good signal and speed from all rooms and even in my garage and yard. I am really happy with the investment. Hide Full Review

Like another review posted, I have to reset this router at least once every 24 to 48 hours. It unexpectedly drops the wireless connection, followed by the internet connection, then the web interface, followed by LAN connection. I have read many other posts that report these problems. I'm waiting on support from Belkin to troubleshoot or replace the unit. In the future, I'll spend my money on a Linksys router. The Linksys BEFSR41 I bought 6 years ago is still running without a glitch. Hide Full Review

It does indeed rock. You can use extenders planted at friends homes to echo ya signal as many times as you like, further, further. Very impressive download speeds. Has increased my rate both at access point and connected devices. NICE. Not once have i ever encoutered technical support at such a high level - EVER. Well done Belkin, more. I'm in AU, no roos on road, but lagging a bit technically. I luv 3G. And Pre N's a fab name boys. Perfect logic. Hide Full Review
