Digital Cameras : Canon PowerShot A75

I was trying to decide between the Nikon Coolpix 3200 and the A75. I found the handling of the A75 superior to the Nikon. It "fits", whereas the Nikon easily slid right out of my hand. The A75 is very easy to use, this coming from someone who is "digitally challenged". Picture quality is great and the menus are easy to navigate. "Wow! the lighting seems perfect" that's what many of my friends said when reviewing the pictures taken in a place where the the light conditions were unfavourable.
This camera's light metering system is very accurate. Coupled with the flexibility given to the photographer to modify the settings easily, there is no reason for anyone being unable to take good shots with this.
Another thing I love about this camera is its battery life. I was smiling to myself when my friend was complaining that the Li-ion battery on her ixus was going flat at the crucial time. Well, I had no fear of my battery running out. I managed to take over 300 shots on alkail batteries( a feat that most digi cameras fail to pull through). Frankly, I expect close to a thousand shots on high capacity rechargable Ni-MH batteries(I cannot give you any accurate figures as my Ni-Mh batteries have not run out yet).
However, this camera is not without flaws. It is covered in plastic that feels cheap to the touch but i suppose that is needed to keep the weight down(I can't imagine the camera being made of metal. I would have weighed close to 400g with the 4 AA batteries). Moreover, It is much heavier than other digi cameras as it uses 4 AA batteries(100g). Its size is also alarmingly big for a digi and is comparable to film based compacts. This is because it uses the big CF card which is a blessing in disguise as it is the cheapest recording media out there.
I would highly recommend this camera as a family camera as it provides idiot proof shooting for those who do not want to weck their brains and yet providing space for the more experienced to experiment and yet get perfect pictures all the time. Hide Full Review

This is great camera I had this for two months. This is my first digicam. I had three non digi SLR namely Nikon F10, Vivitar 3200 and Pentax K100. I was toying with Nikon 3200 and Canon A75, but I had to choose this because of the manual feature which Nikon did not give, plus 32 MB CF card. This cam give excellent picture barring in low light. You cannot use 400 ISO much until ur not using in highest resolution mode. I m a very much low light photographer and also a landscape photographer. Colors are vibrant and natural, features are great. PC controlled remote shooting is great but if it could also give video shooting???!!

But overall this is a camera I would recommend to everyone. I have even shoot with Nikon 3200 which is great the images are of same quality but this does not have the flexibility of Canon A75 Hide Full Review

I find that the menu is easy to navigate, has tons of features to mess around with. the only bad thing was the batteries they give you with the camera go quickly.. advise to buy chargeable batteries. haven't had to use the support yet, so i can't say i'd give them a high rating if i never had to use them! there is also a lot of accesories you can buy for it, or not. whatever you want.
