Digital Cameras : Canon PowerShot Pro90 IS

I actually bought the Powershot Pro for my father for Christmas. He\'s always been something of a photographer so I thought a digital camera would be the perfect gift. I started off reviewing all the cameras out there and narrowed down the list to two - this one and the Minolta Dimage 7, based on the fact that these two had the highest optical zoom (don\'t rely on a digital zoom for quality shots) and the minimum resolution that I would consider acceptable. So I went out to a store to actually hold both cameras and based on features and price, opted for the PowerShot Pro. Definitely a good choice. I got it in the mail a week before Christmas and couldn\'t wait for my dad to open it so I could try it out. The photo quality is awesome, no pixelation whatsoever. The zoom is the best in class (the Minolta Dimage only offered a 7x optical) and it\'s loaded with features. Every kind of setting you could want, plus a movie mode including sound, and panaromic setting that lets you take multiple shots and stitch them together seamlessly. Despite all the features, the camera is laid out in such a way that everything is easily accessible and you\'re not left fumbling around trying to change a setting while the perfect shot passes you by. The software that came with the camera is top notch as well including Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and an easy to use interface that makes transferring files a snap. I like this camera so much that despite the $800 price tag I\'ve already decided to pick one up for myself. Hide Full Review

This camera is my first digital and it is excellent. It is very easy to use, the zoom is awsome and it is easy to transfer photos to my computer. I love it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a digital camera. Hide Full Review

My husband bought me this camera after doing some research. I was ready to buy a Sony as that is what I have used in the past. We\'ve only had it for two weeks and I LOVE it. It\'s a lot of fun trying out the settings and I even ran off the first picture I took. It was great. The challenge for me is using the great software included with this package. It will be fun to experiment. The picture quality seems to be super. Thanks Canon. I also own a Canon AE-One program. I bought that as my first camera back in 1982.
