Printers : Dell Color Laser Printer 3010cn

I read the other reviews - they should have contacted Dell to A) get a discount and/or B) cancel their orders and purchase a different printer. To wait 4 months is completely unacceptable. By that time, the product should be free.

This printer, after having many in the past, is very good quality. Quick print, very clear and quick to dry.

My husband and I own our own business, prior to that I was an executive secretary, he an analyst. With the work that we do, this printer delivers quite well.

Should you need a nice top-notch printer by a company that backs their products, go with this Dell 3010 cn.

The only drawback is the price of the ink cartridge. However, considering that - the ink cartridge for any printer is ridiculous. The print cartridge for this printer runs in the ballpark of $55.00. A normal everyday printer will run you approximately $32.00. $23.00 difference for a cartridge (the Dell) that will last approximately 6 months dependant upon use. Much longer than the everyday printer. You have to pick and chose what is best for you and your needs.

I would personally purchase this again with no qualms.

Thank God I don't own this printer and didn't pay the better part of $400 for it out of my pocket. We have one here at the office. It's our only color printer. It's so slow I thought it was an inkjet, but, no, it's a laser printer. The color print quality is adequate, but not the best I've ever seen, so that's another reason I thought it was an inkjet printer.

The color laster printers we had on my previous job were way faster, and the print quality was way better, too.

I can send a 3-page color document to this printer, get up and walk the 50 feet to the room it's in, and page 1 still hasn't printed. I gather that the toner for this thing costs an arm and a leg, too.

Changing the toner isn't the easiest thing, either, the way this is designed. And there's no manual bypass paper slot or tray for a different size or type paper you might want to use on occasion. If you want to print as sheet or two of laser labels or a sheet or two of cardstock, you to load it in the paper drawer. I think for legal sized paper (8-1/2 x 14) you have to buy a special paper tray.

If it were my money, I'd send it back and get something that works better, like the HP color lasers at the previous place of employment. Hide Full Review

A $50 inkjet would have been a better purchase.

1. Can't change paper size from Windows. Rather, must change on printer and Windows, and in the software app.

2. Had numerous streaking issues. After about 5th support call Dell replaced the drum. Issue resolved.

3. Toner, printed two pages and got "Yellow Toner Low" warning. Toner is rated 1,000 or 2,000 pages. Lucky to get 200 pages. Printing 100 copies of a 3-page color newsletter equates to over a week long nightmare. Ran out of toner. Bought new toner. Ran out before finishing. (Oh and a new set of toner cost as much as I paid for the printer.)

My wife and I bought this color laser printer with the hopes that we might finally be able to print out some of the 100s of digital pictures we've taken. We are on our fifth different type of supposed laser photo paper and this printer smears (or otherwise ruins) every print out. We have still never gotten a decent picture printed and now the stupid thing is low on ink. If that was 2000 pages something is very wrong with Dell's math as we haven't even been through a single ream of paper. The few times we have used this printer to print multiple pages it needs to "regroup" part of the way through the process and doesn't print anything while it's doing so. Pathetic and unnecessarily slow.

The ink for this printer costs nearly half as much as it does, which considering that it is set by default to "color" is unnecessarily (and most likely intentionally) wasted. In the past I have been happy with Dell products, but this printer is a definite and notable exception. Stick with the much cheaper, more efficient and higher quality ink jets (I am going to go get ours back out of the garage). Hide Full Review
