Scanners : Epson Perfection 1250U Photo

Since the previous reviews were clearly all written by the same person, I thought it would be fair to put in an unbiased review.

I use this scanner to scan images that are reproduced in my full-color, professionally printed magazine. I find that the quality is *more* than adequate for this purpose, which is amazing considering what the unit costs.

I haven\'t had any problems with it, other than perhaps the software is a little difficult to use (not very self explanatory). I\'ve used the copy feature with no problems, the scan to file with no problems, and the negative/slide scanning feature works great. As for the software being "too large," as the previous poster said, it sounds like he is probably using older equipment. Modern machines usually have an excess of 20 GIG, which is plenty of room for this software and anything else you want to run at the same time. And, if you\'re using older equipment, I\'m betting that you may have difficulty running this software just based on that. Happens all the time. Hide Full Review

I was wondering after a week of trying to get this scanner to work and several hours on the phone to Epson, what in the world am I doing with this piece of junk taking up space on my work table. It was horrible. The programming that runs it must have been thought up by Jed Clampett (sorry Jed). Nothing worked properly, scan to Email, nope, scan to OCR, nada, scan to printer,uh-uh, scan to file sometimes. The list goes on, not to meention that it is the slowest piece of equipment I have ever seen. I\'m sending it back. After spending time that I payed for on the phone with Epson, the $25 shipping to get it here, and now, the $25 to send it back. I am not a happy camper. Now I need to buy another one (not Epson) because I am in college and I need one for copies so i don\'t have pay for copying. I have had all kinds of problems with it. First it smelled like burned electrical material. Then if warm would not scan, only make black smudges on paper. Then would bring itself up on screen and I could not get rid of it without shutting computer down. Now it will not reconize the internet. I have to reinstall it every week or programs will not reconise it. Hide Full Review
