Printers : Epson Stylus Photo R800

Nothing bad to say about printer. only use good quality paper. I tried Epson prem. gloss paper and Print works Ultra Premium glossy paper. both works great. I wont put down or name the paper that den't work on this printer.
all i will say is don't use cheep photo paper. I hope they will come out with a large model like the r800 printer.
I have'nt printed black and white yet but i will soon.

I purchased this printer a few weeks ago after deciding to upgrade to a better color printer from an Canon Multipass C5000 that is about 5 years old and reading some reviews about this printer. I was truly astounded by the quality of the prints. Eventually, I want to get an Epson 2200 to do archival prints for art work, but I thought this printer would be good to use to print reference photos and for other less permanent color prints - the printer has 6 color inks rather than the normal four which makes the print image that much more vibrant. I've tried printing photos on both high quality photo paper and also just plain paper, and have been pleased with both results. The ink does seem to be water resistent, although, I would use a suitable fixative on it if I felt I needed to. It also prints text well. The printer is fast and quiet, and I am truly happy with it. Sorry HP but I have to let you go. I've owned only HP except for a Canon S900. After doing a days worth of shooting I came back to my HP 7690 to print. The colors were all off plus I was getting REALLY tired of those expensive HP ink tanks going empty so fast. Not only that, but the least bit of water and a print was ruined!

After checking around I decided to try Epson.

There is NOTHING I don't like about this printer. At last, I'm am so very happy with my prints.

I've had this printer for a while. I guess I am lucky it still works. My mom is on her third replacement (under warranty) and I've heard a lot of complaints about Epson's overall quality. My biggest complaint is that this thing eats ink like nobody's business. And if even one ink color is out, you cannot print ANYTHING. And if your print heads are dirty and even one of your ink cartridge is even low, it won't let you clean your heads unless you replace all low print cartridges. My latest problem is the printer will not print on photo paper. I have replaced all of the print cartridges (at $15.00 that adds up to $120.00) and am in the process of a nozzle check and cleaning. I don't know what to do if that doesn't work, other than do what I really feel like doing, which is take a hammer to this gynormous piece of sh!t and buy a new photo printer that actually will print on photo paper. I will NEVER buy another Epson again. Epson sucks. Hide Full Review
