Printers : HP PhotoSmart 3210 All-in-One

I have purchase Hewlett Packard printers for the past 10 years with great success. This printer (now on my 4th since Jan 2006) is basically junk. The same problem with each printer, constant "Out of paper" prompt. I either have to pull out the paper tray and "fool" it into thinking I added paper or push the OK button for every single piece of paper that I want to print. So far, replacing the printer has only been a minor incovenience because the customer service is still very good. I'd like to be able to exchange it for another model or get my money back and purchase another brand because it is obvious that this model is "NEVER" going to meet my expectations and I doubt that it meets HP quality standards either.
I have already discouraged two friends from purchasing one and I imagine there are many other more vocal dissatisfied customers than I. Remember, every one dissatisfied customers tells 11 others. That eventually adds up and hurts business. Hide Full Review

I was never able to obtain a unit that was fully functional.
The first one did not recognize that there was paper in the 8x10 tray. The second one would not recognize that all of the print cartridges were installed. The third one produced an error message regarding the carriage. I tried the documentation, and online help, and made multipe attempts to resolve these issues with HP customer support. Their answer to everything was that it was a hardware problem and that they would send out another printer. I still don't know if the product was that unreliable or if the customer support was just not knowledgable. Hide Full Review

For such a pricey printer, one would hope this printer can last for more than a few months. I got my original one almost one year ago, then experienced a loud grinding sound from the printer when it goes into the automatic maintenance mode. It then gave me an error message and the printer stopped working. The tech support person told me that it's possible the gear wasn't catching on to the print head. I got a replacement from them (probably a refurb.) and after only a few months with the replacement one, the same problem occurred. Since my 1-year warranty is almost up, I'm thinking that it's not worth trying to get another refurb one. I just started doing some search on the net for feedback on this printer and found multiple complaints on this printer. I wish I had done this kind of research a year ago before buying this printer. For a $300+ printer, you'd think it would last more than just a few months at a time. Hide Full Review

Paper feeder problems all the time. Out of paper message when plenty of paper in tray. This is my second 3210 and still the same problem. (Store replaced one already) Tried Hp support and could not understand support operator at all. Still trying to contact one that speaks plain english. Hide Full Review
