Camcorders : JVC Everio GZ-MG77

This is the best camera for an active family. It is very small camera which is great when you are carrying it around- but not flimsy at all. I have two small boys who want to be junior film makers and the camera feels durable enough and easy for them to use. My only complaint is that there are so many hours of recording time but the battery only last so little time. It's a plus that I have so much hardrive recording time but I hate to have to carry at least three batteries when we go out. Hide Full Review

I bought this camcorder last week and it is a very good investment. I read a few "pro" reviews that bashed this camcorder pretty badly so I was weary about buying it.... Well, I took a risk and it turns out that the camcorder is excellent.... Im not a pro and im not willing to spend thousands of dollars for a pro camera. This thing is good enough for the recreational video maker. The battery life sucks for the battery that you get with it. (1hour about) so buy a JVC BN-VF733(make sure you buy a JVC one or it wont work). Other than that the camcorder is small and can hold over 7 hours of high quality video. The quality stays the same when put on dvd and the USB transfer is fast. Hide Full Review

After reading reviews, and mainly realizing the bad reviews thought "HD" stood for high-definition, not hard drive, I ultimately chose to try this camera.

This camera was so lightweight when I got it I thought it was missing parts, but sure enough, after it's extremely short charging time, it zoomed right up and prompted me to set the time and date. The joystick to scroll through the options could be a little bigger, but I got the time and date set. I then noticed how crisp and bright the picture was. I did a quick test video, and hooked it up to the TV. I noticed there were some compression artifacts, but the video quality was so much better than my old rubbish-of-a-camera Canon ZR600.

A finally took the camera to an event that would be fun to videotape, and boy did the battery die soon. Lesson learned, shell out the money and get a battery.

firs I enjoyed it until it run out of space. When watching on TV it was very good. Then I tried to burn it on a disk. It failed. I took it to Best Buy and they were not familiar with it. Even their Geek Squad could not help me. They sent it to the manufacturer. They returned back as fixed. I could not still burn it on a DVD. This is one of my greatest frustration on any gadget. I do not know what to do with it. Best Buy was not of any help at all. I need help. Hide Full Review

This is a great little camcorder for the money ($450.00 new). I purchased this camcorder about 3 months ago and I have still not run out of space on the disk.

The still picture quality is hit or miss. Some of the pictures turn out great while others look like they were taken from a camera phone. The video quality is what I expected…very good.

In all we are extremely happy with the overall quality of the camera. I was not willing to spend another $250.00 for better still quality (you get what you pay for).

In the end you pay for the size and convenience of the MG77 and if that is what you want you will be quite happy. Hide Full Review
