HDTV & Televisions : LG 42PC3D

What a fantastic television!! I bought mine the week before Thanksgiving and I found this set for the amazingly low price of $1199 after rebates and discounts!! No other TV in this price range even comes close. The salesperson at the store was trying to push me towards a comparable 42" Panasonic plasma, which was set up right next to this LG. He said the Panasonic has the best picture and color for the money... Ummm, I grew puzzled by his statement as I looked at the two sets side by side. The LG was much brighter and crisper and the colors looked vivid and warm. The "great" Panasonic's picture looked quite yellow overall, muddy even. My wife agreed completely and we brought home the LG. I later found that LG uses a special thin glass on their screens that maximizes light transmission, and it really works! It has a perfect picture in bright or dim lighting conditions. As you've probably heard before... let your own eyes be the judge of visual quality and I think you'll agree that LG is hard to beat. I've had this Tv for 2 weeks now. I have nothing bad to say about it. Probably too early to tell, but I love my TV. Perfect size and amazing picture. Just got HD channels for it and I can barely watch normal TV now. Can't wait until all TV looks as good as the HD channels do. Hide Full Review

This tv is absolutely amazing. Now all the fuss about not having 1080p is foolish and the reason for that is that its going to take at least 2 years to develop a standard for all plasma and 720p is just as good to the naked eye. Now this tv now with 2 hdmi inputs is great. Briliant picture sharp and vivid with 95% free of artifaction. Buy this tv you will not regret it! Hide Full Review

The tv developed a bad picture after less then 1 year and I am having an incredibly hard time getting a replacement. Customer service cannot be reached in the afternoon, and when I left a message with the answering service I never got a callback. I will never purchase another LG product, and if I get a replacement I am going to try my best to exchange the new unit for another brand. Hide Full Review

When we first got the tv we were really excited, the HD picture was great. Then after about 3 or 4 months the picture would randomly freeze up but eventually go back to normal. After the 8th month the screen just blew out for good. We only have the tv on for maybe 3-5 hours a day depending on if there is a game on. The dissapointment is in customer service. They are just like the cable company. "we can be there between 8 and noon." Most people work those hours. We fixed our work schedule to meet him and he needed another part so he had to schedule another appt but our jobs aren't so nice this time and we can't come now for another week or 2. We have had no plasma tv for over a month now and they will not give us a loaner tv or our money back. We greatly regret our choice of purchase. Hide Full Review
