Cell Phones : LG VX8600

I was really jazzed about getting this phone as my upgrade, it does look very nice, thin, ease of keypad use, but that's where it ended for me. After charging it up after recieving it, I went to the menu to start setting things up, that went fairly well. Then, since I didn't see a button on the keypad anywhere for the speakerphone, I consulted the manual......................NOTHING........I went to a local Verizon Store.........Uhhhhhhh.........Ummmmmmmmmm, geez, I don't know.............I finally called Verizon Tech support, they told me it's a little side key on the right of the screen, great.............however, you need to dial a phone # and be connected, or have answered a call BEFORE this button will activate speakerphone. My last beef is pretty minor, my old 6100 would show the date and time on outer screen in stand by mode, this one shuts down after a few seconds, you can activate it while closed with a side button on the left, but again, it only displays for a few seconds.I'm sure I'll enjoy it more after a couple weeks use, it's just not as intuitive as I'd hoped.One more thing, as the other reviewer stated, it does tend to smudge easy. I was up for an upgrade and was stuck on this phone. This phone is a real looker.

My one complaint is that I cant figure out how to use the speakerphone? I keep reading that is has one...but does it actually? Hide Full Review

I have Verizon Wireless service so this phone was an upgrade from the LG VX330, thus the price was unbeatable ($29.99 w/2 yr contract). The Wow factor (ie. style) is very high for this phone. I brought it to work the same day I got the phone, a co-worker saw it and immediately wanted one for herself. I love the screen resolution, very clear. However, the text on the front window (not the main window) is fairly small. Makes it harder to read the name of the person on an incoming call (nothing I cant get used to but still..). Volume was good, in fact Ive had to turn it down more often than turn it up. I have hit the side buttons accidentally on more than one occasion. Same goes for the keypad. I'm not crazy about the access port cover. My old VX3300 had the rubber cover over the charging port and I promptly lost it. But I never had any trouble with dust, dirt, etc. getting into the port. On the VX8600, I get nervous that it'll snap off, especially for the Micro SD port. I find it odd that you can only turn on the speakerphone when you're on a call. Plus the way to turn it on is a little strange too.

There aren't as many sample ringtones as the VX3300, although you can download what you want. Say what you may but, bottom line, this is a phone. Thus the camera & mp3 player will not be of the highest quality. They're good in a pinch but thats about it. Voice command is pretty nifty. Fun to play with but you have to speak clearly and kinda slowly. All in all, a great phone. I was already used to the menus, since I had the VX3300 before, so that was not a big deal. The flat keypad took a little getting used to. But a little practice goes a long way. Hide Full Review

This is my first phone with Verizon and so far I am extremely pleased.The features that come with this phone are excellent (the built in tip calculator has come in handy many times) and 1.3 megapixel camera is awesome. (I do wish there was a flash for the camera but I am just nit picking) This phone is great for ringtones the built in stereo makes the tones sound quite vibrant. This is my first "slim phone" so I do not know how it compares to the razors and katanas out there but I will say it feels sturdier than the razor. Having a case for this phone is a must due to the high gloss on the phone. Definitely a great buy for the introductory price. Hide Full Review

the reference guide doesn' t tell you anything at all. So make sure you have the sales people show you everything before you leave the store! You have to pay for the Vcast option...hint...that's what makes the phone cool. That means unless you are going to pay for the extra service then go with another phone! I personally like the LG brand but this is more than I needed. I would like to know how to get my music to my phone without having to pay for the "Get it now" music. A true mystery!! Hide Full Review
