Laptops : MacBook Pro, 15-inch, 2.2GHz

I recent bought my MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 Ghz Core Duo Intell w/ LED display and 2 gig's of memory at the Perimeter Apple Store (Atlanta, Ga.), where the service and products are superb!! My laptop has the new "Santa Rosa" Intell processor and after owning HP's and Dell laptops, this is so much better, faster, easier and has greater quality - regarding the MAC OS X and not to be too fickle, the pure cool "feel" of the aluminium case is awesome...I LOVE IT!! My biggest regret is that I didn't make the MAC-MacBook Pro switch earlier. I would without ANY reservation suggest this EXACT laptop as your next BEST BUY!! Don't wait like I did... This is the second Apple product I have purchased. I orginally bought an iBook 14" with a 1.42 ghz PPC G4 processor. I loved that thing. My biggest complaints about the iBook were all resolved with the macbook pro.



First it has a massively better video card. I haven't been able to play Age of Empires 3 and that had been a bummer but now I can. 128mb nVida geForce video card.



Cooler processors. Intel core 2 duo processors run so much quieter and cooler than the PPC. I always had to put a couch pillow or something between and my legs when I was on for long periods of time. I no longer have to do that. The Machine stays pretty cold.



Weight and size. It's lighter even though it is an inch wider.



Speakers I can hear wherever I am.



I know many of these upgrades are the result of purchasing a higher end notebook, but still I am very enthusiastic when I recommend this laptop. Hide Full Review

The sleek, aluminum MacBook Pro is the same size and shape as its predecessor, and it clearly stands out from the white plastic look of iPods, iMacs, MacBooks, and other more consumer-oriented Apple products. The MacBook Pro feels lighter than the aluminum casing makes it look, but at 2.54 kg (2.9 kilos with the AC adaptor), it's at the upper end of the weight scale for a laptop you'd want to carry around every day. The dimensions remain as slim as the previous model's, at 35.7 cm wide by 24.3 cm deep by 2.59 cm thick.


The MacBook Pro supplies you with two USB 2.0 ports, both FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 ports (previous models had only FireWire 400), and a slot-loading SuperDrive DVD burner. You won't find a media card reader, however, which has become an almost ubiquitous feature on Windows laptops. The Airport Extreme 802.11a/b/g wireless card and the built-in Bluetooth keep you connected.

The 15.4-inch display has a native resolution of 1,440x900, which isn't the highest resolution we've seen in a laptop of this size, but if offers a nice balance of screen real estate and readability, especially when reading Web-based text. Video output is offered via a DVI port on the side, and a DVI-to-VGA cable is included in the box.

Apple has touted performance boosts of up to 39 percent over the Core Duo MacBook Pro models. We ran several applications on the new Core 2 Duo version and found a notable boost in performance. In iTunes, the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro was 32 percent faster than a 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro. It was also significantly faster than a comparable Core 2 Duo Windows laptop, the HP Pavilion dv6000t, in iTunes -- although we should note that iTunes was built by Apple and we'd expect it run better on Apple hardware. I just bought a mac book pro 2.2 GHz 120 GB HD and 2 GB of ram and I absolutely love it... I cant wait until the new os x leopard comes out, that is going to put apple way ahead of everyone else.. Over all it's a very nice notebook but they could come down on the price a little.. Hide Full Review
