HDTV & Televisions : Magnavox 50MF231D

My husband and I Bought a 50" plasma in Feb. and now it is June. A week and a half ago the plasma panel on the tv, with no warning,just quit. I called up Magnavox for support and was given a phone # to call for repair, this place did not service my area and I had to call Magnavox again. They then gave me % more #,s to call to see if one of those serviced these tv,s. i found someone who did and they came the next day and took my tv with them. Thae part needed was on back order and just got shipped ,that took 11 days and may take up took to 7 business days to arrive and another day to repair. I was offered nothing for my time without a tv.The people I spoke with at Magnavox were not helpful in making me feel better about purchasing a tv that only lasted 4 Months. Hide Full Review

I should have seen it coming and if you have one I hope this helps. If you are looking to purchase I would rethink it unless you have $2000 to spend on a TV every 2 years. The TV picture and/or sound would turn off randomly while watching for no apparent reason at all, sometime to come back on after 20 seconds or so. It became increasingly harder to turn on, used to only take 5 seconds to power up until the end where it would take close to an hour. Seemed to add about 2 or 3 seconds every time it was turned on. Now it is a usless peice of junk that I can sell for parts at around $100 so if you would like to waste money purchase this TV, it does have an absolutly gorgeous picture when it does want to work. I bought the Plasma at Christmas time and me and my husband both love it. It was the easiest to hook up to our cable no special wires were needed we just plugged it in and started watching. It was great.My husband researched many Plasma's before we bought our Magnavox, They were all overpriced and needed special wires and plugs which cost more money because if you didn't purchase the extra wires and plugs the tv would not function properly. With the magnavox no extra's needed to be purchased, we were very pleased with it's performance, from the minute we plugged it in. If you purchase this Plasma tv I know you will be pleased with it as much as we are. I rate this Plasma a 10. Hide Full Review

My wife purchased this as an early anniversary/ bday present. I absolutley love it. great picture, enough hook ups for what we need. dvd's look awesome as does regular tv. it shoud be noted that we have direct tv. i am very happy with this so far. by the way my wife got this on clearance from wally world for under $1000.
