HDTV & Televisions : Maxent MX-42VM11

Bought this unit on Black friday from Best Buy for 999.99 They ordered it in but had a display unit set up that looked as good as the Panasonic beside it! fpr 1400.00 LESS!I also Opted to wall mount so that was another 150.00 TV has great picture quality but the sound is bad.OS Menu is a little vague as well... I overcame this by running TV through Sony surround sound and everything is fine! Make sure you set your onboard sound to VARIABLE instead of fixed. also hooked up DIsh network and DVD player VIA composite outputs-Great Picture!..... since TV has NO built in tuner I opted on getting a Cheapo HI-FI Vcr to hook up coax cable (Local cable channels) and then connected VCR to tv with Componet cables. I purchased this and the 27in model from costco in early november 2005. After doing extensive research with Consumer reports and other sources, I was going to get the panasonic everyone talks about. They did mentioned the Maxent was a good buy,I was set until i saw them side by side. Well i saved about 600 bucks and walked out with Two Flat TVS that i tell everyone about! The picture is great on a side by side with Panasonic barely a difference. But once you bring it home there is no difference! Hide Full Review

I've had this tv/monitor for months and it has worked out great. Had some growing pains at first when trying to find a universal remote and any support online. But finally found the One-for-All URC-6690B00. It doesn't control everything on my cable box, but is good enough. Best Buy had the ED and HD next to each other and from 6 ft away, couldn't tell much difference at all. Highly recommend! Hide Full Review

I shopped a lot and purchased the set on a nice sale at Best Buy. Set is also sold at Costco for a good price. The picture is great. Maxent also makes an ED model but the HD model has better picture resolution. The color settings need to be adjusted a little from the default settings. The stereo sound is very good. I added a "Monstor cable" DVD player connection that cost $75.00 at the suggestion of the installer for incredible DVD playblack. It's worth it to me because I rent a lot of DVD movies. Personal Experience
I bought on black friday but return it next day for exchange. problem was, it will not store stereo setting in the monitor. every time you turn off the monitor, your sound setting will show stereo but sound comes from one speaker only. then if you go to menu and choose stereo, you get stereo sound. it happens every time you turn the tv off and on. this is a real problem.
second problem, if you connect sound output to your theater system, you get only one speaker sound from your theater system. I tried it to my old tv which gives very good theater sound but when you change those audio outputs to external speaker system on mx42vm11 , you only get one speaker output.
this is also a big problem because monitor itself has very lousy sound.
so, my experience with this tv not good.
I have already exchanged one time and when new repalcement of monitor came, it has same problem. exactly same, lousy stereo sound when you turn off and on the tv and then you dont get one speaker sound when connected to output for theater system.
please watch, new buyers. let me know if you have same problem. Anyway, I am going to return it and try third monitor to see if this whole lot of monitor is bad.

Problems
poor quality sound, sound output signal problem just give you one speaker sound on your theater system. Also, it will not store stereo sound in its memory. please watch it!
