HDTV & Televisions : Mitsubishi WD-65732

I have had my 65 inch Mitsubishi for almost a year now, and we have paid the extra $$$ to have our TV service upgraded to HD and let me tell you it is well worth it!! The satellite service can not broadcast in full 1080p HD so it is only 1080i and let me tell you it is amazing. But I cant wait to get an HD-DVD player to see the true power of this HDTV in full 1080p but i'm still waiting to see who is going to win the HD battle between HD and Blu-ray before I get one.

Overall the TV is amazing, I get compliments on it all the time, and when my friends sit down to watch ESPNHD on an actual 1080p HDTV with HD service from Time Warner the picture is mind blowing. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this TV a 9!!

The only downfall would be the use of the PIP, it is kinda confusing and I might have to break out the owners manual to see how it is done properly before the NFL season starts. Hide Full Review

Picture - Fantastic! While you can adjust the television many ways, I think the three built-in settings is all I need. On delivery it defaults to bright, which normally looks weird. Most of the time I have the setting on natural where it usually looks fantastic
A major issue for me is glare with a south facing window next to it. I have light blocking shades (100% opague), but my wife hates when I use them. This television handles glare well.
Since DLP technology does not burn in images, you do not have to stretch conventional images to fill in the screen or look at ugly grey bars. I think this is a big plus.
Initially my family thought the television was ridiculously large. They now love it. Unless you are the type who likes sitting in the back of a theatre, big is beautiful, especially in HD.
One potential major problem is that a straight conventional broadcast looks awful. Since both my Dish HD recorder and DVD recorder have an up converter, that is not problem for me.


Sound - Average. I have heard better and worse in its price range. Though maybe I am spoiled with a super surround sound system that cost more then the television, I feel it leaves a bit to be desired.


Set-up - Actually relatively light weight and my wife and I set it up easily. Along with light bulb replacment, you do need to factor into the price a stand, which you do not always have to do with other televsions. Trivial, but I wish it had a DVI interface in front.
The televsion intially would not store my set-ups when I turned off the television but Mitsubishi was very helpful. Despite this problem, I gave quality five stars since the television was physically abused by getting twisted some in my truck (long story) and still works great.

Bottom line - If you want a large television, you can spare a little protusion from the wall, and you want the most bang for the buck, get this television. Take the money you would save over an LCD or plasma televsion and buy something else. Hide Full Review

These TV's look wonderful in store. But are JUNK! I bought the Mitsubishi WD-65732 in April of 2007 The Lamp has already gone out! They are $385.99 to replace them. Mine will be replaced under warranty but I will be without the TV for a WEEK until it arrives and I will have to install it. These model mitsu DLP HDTV's are having alot of other problems such as having to have the complete Light Engines replaced, over heating warnings and shut down issues, a bad sensor. "Blooming" issues on screen as you watch and a meriad of other issues. They ARE Junk dont waste your hard earned Money on a Mitsubishi DLP HDTV you WILL be extremely sorry if you do. I will now have to SELL it as used and LOOSE a ton of MY hard earned money to buy another brand as a replacement. And have to feel BAD selling it off to someone else, by smiling and LIEING at how wonderful the TV is and say something like Oh i'm ONLY selling it to buy a BIGGER one.

Please do NOT waste your money on a Mitsubishi TV . Hide Full Review
