I paid the full $400 for this item in hopes that I can limit carrying around my laptop. Nokia promised on their website access to the internet using your current cell phone. NOT SO! N800 can only access the internet using a compatible Nokia phone or a WiFi spot. Therefore this makes this so called PDA useless as it has very limited features.
It took me more than 30 days to figure out it was my limited ability to connect to the internet via my phone. Finally, my cell provider established this for me. When I approached Nokia on this and advised them that no where on their website do they advise not all phones are compatible it was too late, they gave me an oh well and I am stuck with a $400 mistake. this thing is asome. I got it for christmas and it still works the sam till this day. I never had a single problem with it. The pda kicks the palm tx but big time. I do miss all of the programs the tx had but who cares. this thing does wat it does and good.I highly recemend buying this pda its the best bang for yor buck. Trust me. I owned the tx and it crashed every 5 mins. Please dont buy the tx. Get this its the best. Hide Full Review

I have the n800 and the unit is a waste of money even if you go for the unpdated model. The unit does not play like this unit should at 30 frames per-second for utube. The unit to me is a internet tablet so it should be able to play utube / cbs / nbc /fox network / cwnetwork. The company needs to "hightly upgade" the unit to play a video from tube or any of the other web sites I listed. I sent mine back to the headquarters didn't care how much it cost just to prove I was fooled in to buying a unit that should do what it should do. Hide Full Review

The screen resolution is great. I use to try to use my Pocket PC to surf, but it was just too much scrolling around. Not so with the N800. Surfing is enjoyable with this device. I got this device 3 months ago. I installed OS2008 (an operating system upgrade) in the first two weeks. I recommend you do the same. I had an issue with the device not turning on some times. It turned out to be a software issue and Nokia posted a fix for it. The one thing I see missing from the N800 is out of the box PDA functionality (calendar, contacts, etc.) I know that this is not how this device is marketed, but I think it would be relatively simple to do and would help sell the device. I have read that the third party apps for PDA type functionality are ok, but I haven't tried them yet. Speaking of third party apps, there are a huge number of them (mostly free) and most of them seem to have good quality. Go to maemo.org to see what I mean. I use Pigeon for IM (Live Messenger account) and it seems to work well. I use this device to also keep up to date on my work email and calendar through OWA (Outlook Web Access), so I don't have to turn on my computer when I get home. I also use this to surf the web when I take the kids to the library(free wireless access) or McDonald's (free wireless here comes with my home AT&T DSL account). Oh and did I mention there is a Skype client for the N800. The Skype client doesn't support video (yet) but it works real well for audio. Hide Full Review
