PDAs : Palm m505 handheld

Like other users, I too was disappointed with the m505\'s screen... but only INDOORS. You do need to be under direct overhead light for it to look nice. I find myself apologizing to others when I show them something on the screen. However, outdoors or under flourescent indoor lighting, the screen looks great. I previously owned a Handspring Visor Prism, and I loved the bright screen (except outdoors). When compared to the Clie 710, the screen on the m505 does look inferior. However, I took the m505 on vacation for 2.5 weeks without ever charging it. Without a backlight, the battery power is nicely conserved. For professionals, I think the m505 is an excellent PDA. The small size & light weight, combined with the expandiblity make it very useful. Another plus: the SD cards are available generically and hence are much cheaper than the Sony Memory Sticks (proprietary)... One more complaint though: Palm didn\'t include a utility to access memory cards efficiently (Handspring and Sony do). Makes it difficult to hold large databases on SD cards with the main programs in main memory. I downloaded MSMount from the web and solved this problem. Before purchasing the M505, I was very weary after reading all the reviews that complained about it. But I\'m glad I bought one, it is perfect for me. In low or indirect lighting the screen is hard to see, but the built in light works perfectly, and in bright or sun light, the screen is tremendous. Battery life is fantastic, I have had mine for over 6 months now, and use it daily, and have still never gone beyond half way down. It also recharges very fast. Most of the applications are very useful. I also purchased the expandable keyboard, and it too works perfectly, and uses almost no battery power. I\'ve won my 505 and also had won a Palm V which I sold. It\'s been great. I\'ve traded in my hard copy planner and exclusively use my 505. I don\'t leave the house without it. There are so many applications and uses for this. Besides my calendar, task list and contact, I also have the Bible, Pocket Money, shoping list, password program, Vehicle log, weight workout program, plus many more. This is by far one of the best products I\'ve owned. Now if only it had the same amount of storage as my laptop I could get rid of it an use the Palm exclusively. Hide Full Review

an excelent choise if you need a color palm and the size and design like the palm v.
It is so small, expandible and colorfull that\'s hard to imagine how they manage to do it.
It comes with a lot of bundled sofware, everything a business person need. Remember that as the palm v it is design for profesionals, it is to expensive and not useful for a studet or ocasional user.
The most important element is the new ligth and the new screen, it can display 65000 colors but it can seem a little dark under low light but it is fine, and with the side light is mazing. Remember the importance of the batery life and a lighter screen will consume to much of it. Hide Full Review
