Cell Phones : Palm Treo 680 Arctic

Bought a 680 when first available - had pre-ordered. I love Palm OS just too easy to use. Had a Treo 600 - took on month long vacation in Istanbul, sailed down the Turkish coast, up through the Greek Isles, Athens, by land and ferry to Italy, two weeks in Italy. Worked perfectly - used daily for voice and data - never reset once. The 680 has proven more stable than the 600.



The 680 isn't just a smart phone, it's a pocket computer. The range of applications and personal tools is huge. To really appreciate how good a 680 is, don't rely on a commentator who carries one around for a few days. Talk to owners who have carried them for a month and who have some idea of the capabilities built in.



Reviewers love to focus on the few compromises found - low resolution camera - so what! When I went on vacation, I took my pocket Canon - even a 2 mpx camera phone isn't going to cut it when you want really good pictures. The 680 isn't as slim as some smart phones - yeah but it has a very useable full qwerty keyboard. The 680 has a REMOVEABLE battery - if the battery craps out, you don't have to go buy a new phone. No, it doesn't have WiFi - but with unlimited data plans available for $20 a month and reasonable speed from EDGE, the requirement isn't that big.

Great phone. The browser and camera get a bad rap in a lot of reviews, but mine works great! Email set-up is a breeze. Need a longer life battery and this would be 100%. But for the price, it is the best phone out there! Hide Full Review
