PDAs : Palm Z22

Palm gave this $99 PDA all the right moves. I like its small size. It has about 22 MB of core memory for the user. I've downloaded about 8 books into it from the excellent e-reader website. Entering appointments, memos, addresses into the PC sync program is easy and intuitive. Best organizer program I've used. You get the latest news feeds downloaded to the Z22 when you sync online. Forget the morning paper for your train commute? Get out the Z22 to read a book, news, play games, write your novel. The handwriting recognition is easy to learn to use. There is a software keyboard if you prefer. Download images of your sweetie, your cocker spaniel. Bonus feature: beam info to other palm users with IR - exchange schedules, URLs, notes, addresses. Give one to everyone in your family instead of just the breadwinner having a $500 PDA: Sis, Junior, Mom, Dad and the cocker have one for the same money. Did the dog think hers was a chewable toy? This is my 1st PDA. I sought out something that would help me keep up with all personal and business-related appointments and meetings, without breaking my pockets. After doing extensive research, I felt the Z22 was the best decision for me. I've had it about a week now, and do not regret the decision I made. I've entered so much info into this thing. No more writing notes on scrap pieces of paper or keeping separate paper calendars for me! I got a good deal from OfficeMax because it came with 4 extra styli, a blue soft case and 4 screen protectors...all which typically come separately and would run up the tab. I bought this for my daughter for Christmas 2005. By October 2006 - it had died. It cost 120.00 to buy and 70.00 to fix - not worth it! My husband has had lot's of bad luck with Palm products. Now he tells me!!!

I bought this little PDA because of its low price. At the time, I was not sure if I need a PDA or not, so I bought it to see if I can get used with the idea. Later on I was going to upgrade to a more sophisticated model, if I decided that PDA is what I need to put some order in my mess.The quality of the image is very poor, and the features are not impressive at all.Let's say that my Samsung t629 phone is almost as smart as this device, and has more memory and better picture quality.
The problems started right away, and they ended the day I sold the unit.
Obviously, there are some basic features (memo pad, tasks, calculator, alarm, etc), which can be found on any decent organizer. I wanted to install on it some more advanced features, like a budget manager for instance. Therefore I ordered the software, but it never worked. Moreover, I was endlessly ping-ponged between Palm's Customer Support and the software producer.None of them was able to detect the issue and come up with a resolution.None of them was willing to refund me, or to do anything to alleviate the problem. Palm was blaming Element 5, and Element 5 was blaming Palm for my issues. None of them formerly apologized for the inconvenience.The worse happened after a month of intense efforts....My credit card was charged again, for the same amount I paid for the software (40 bucks). At that point my patience came to an end. I requested a full refund, but nobody answered my e-mails,and the phone calls were again passed from Palm to Element 5 and back. Therefore I got in touch with my credit card company and reported both transcations as frauds. I sold the PDA and bought a HP instead.
I'm sure my case is not a singular one, so my advice is to think twice before you spend the money. You may just waste a hundred bucks, just as I did. Hide Full Review
