I bought one in May and it failed completely by September, conveniently outside the 90 day warranty period. It would not read discs that were known good. When I sought support, on two calls, I was told that I could pay a $95 processing fee for a new one (I was told that they don't even bother to attempt a repair). Neither service rep made any attempt to trouble shoot the issue. Their guidance amounted to "Shut it down. Count to 15 and fire it back up." I will move on and buy anything but a Polaroid. I just ordered this item and received it yesterday, June 26, 2006. I read the instructions and followed them to a tee. When the recorder did not "find" the disc, I opened it up to put another one in. The red light on the a/c adapter went out, and that was it. No a/c power. The adapter was shot within a minute of plugging it in.

I called Polaroid and they told me to try it with the d/c adapter. That did work, but they seemed to ignore the fact that they sent an adapter that is no good. They are going to replace the adapter, but not in time for our trip on the 30th (even with their "expediated shipping" they said it would be 5-7 days). They seemed not to care if they are shipping defective parts, which I feel they knew as they told me they did not need the old one back.

I will update this when I return from the trip and let everyone know if it continues to work, or if the entire unit is as bad as the a/c adapter. Hide Full Review

We bought this DVD player for our monthly 5 hour trips. We purchased in early 06 and it works even today.

We have toddlers and it has lasted through their attention... sadly the car adapter has not. and this is the major fault. It is hard to find a 9.5V adapter.

The remote with it never worked no matter what we did.

Only feature I recommend would be a play button on the front instead of the image settings which are useless... we have to take it out of the holder and open it up to press play on a movie that doesn't automatically play.

But otherwise, this thing has lasted over 2 years and survived heat, cold and toddlers.. what more can you ask for... possibly a toddler proof adapter. Hide Full Review

Both sound and picture quality were good when it was working but broke down easily after few use. First swivel had problem and error on reading disc. I would take durability over any cute swivel feature any day. Hide Full Review
