HDTV & Televisions : RCA HD52W59

I got this tv for $900 about a year ago. Best buy delivered it so I didn't have to move it up the stairs, but when I recently moved it was easy for 2 people because of its light weight and wheels. The cons are that it doesn't say anywhere in the manual that it comes from the factory with the contrast and brightnessed turned way up, and this caused mine to get image burn on the sides where the black border is during most tv programs. If you turn the settings down when you get it, it shouldn't be a problem. The other con is the screen is made out of plastic. I have seen newer versions at walmart that have glass and they are about $100 more (worth it though). I have 4 kids under 6 so it didn't take much time for it to get scratched. Other than that its been a great tv so far considering the very low price for a 52". Hide Full Review

Do not make the same mistake and purchase this or similar RCA models from Wal-Mart. It seemed like a great deal but after only 1 year and less than 2 weeks after the warranty expired the convergence went bad. Go ahead and spend the extra and avoid these rear projection televisions. I bought this TV from circuit city (open box) however when I got home the TV had a high pitch buzzing sound.

I had circuit city bring me a NEW TV, this time not open box. This new TV would not even turn on.

A couple days later they bring me yet another TV. This worked fine.

After about 1 year it began to buzz, this time at a higher pitch -- to the point that sometimes my girlfriend could not hear it.

Tonight this TV started SCREECHING for about 10 minutes.

I am now stuck with a TV that I dont want to pay to repair and I dont want to sell it off to someone else.

I'd avoid this TV solely due to the buzzing issue. Hide Full Review

I bought this TV a little less than two years ago from Wal-Mart....not that it matters where you buy it...but my son comes running into me saying it's broken. I went into the living room and the green button would turn on and then it would make a buzzing sound....at least the first few times we turned on. Now it does nothing. I've read several reviews that I've found on the net and there are a TON of people who have had the same problem after the first year of use. Yes, this does sound like a great deal but it certainly is not. Go a little more expensive and get a MUCH better deal. Besides the fact that this TV goes out, not a whole lot of people will repair an RCA TV because of this issue and RCA is too hard to work with.....at least that's what the repair people told us...the three that we called in the Tulsa area. DO NOT BUY THIS TV BEWARE....BE VERY AWARE! I am super mad that I have to go buy another big screen! Hide Full Review
