I can't believe I'm actually giving a product review this high. I am surprised by how well the Roku works. Even with an outdated Airport the Roku grabs playlists from iTunes right out of the air and plays flawless in my environment (3 rooms away). Awesome. I've been wanting this for four years now - play my hard drive easily in my living room. Finally down to a reasonable price point - was on sale at Roku; has gone back up but maybe they'll do it again now that they have a new model out.

Upon arrival: setup was a piece of cake - walks you right through configuration and found my network, and then my iTunes (for both computers, actually) right away. Only challenge was typing the WEP password through the remote.

This is the "it just works" category of technology ... iTunes integration is great ... picks up your radio stations, playlists. Browsing through my music library is a breeze - very intuitive and user-friendly navigation.

A few little nits here & there - wish the display were a tiny bit bigger (though you can choose a one-line display if you like); wish it had WPA support.

Lots of little cool things to boot. User manual says it works with SlimServer (the SqueezeBox server software) and they also have their own server software, both of which seem worth checking out; the Soundbridge has its own web server so you can do some configuration from the computer -- and change volume/stop/play a playlist) ... even has a telnet daemon.

This company has a very active support staff that is constantly adding new features to this product. Although a bit complicated to setup, once it is up and running it has worked flawlessly. Helpful bulletin boards will lead to answers from other users and company personnel.

It is dependent on a media server program running on your pc and Apple has not allowed them to play songs purchased straight off iTunes.

But if you have a large CD collection and can rip them to a hard drive, this will free up lots of shelf space. Also integrates with just about any other music service.

Been thinking how to link your great stereo setup to a music server? The Roku Soundbridge M1000 is for you. Connect a PC anywhere via Ethernet or wi-fi and access to your music library on your PC or tune into Internet radio.

It was easy to setup. It supports many PC-based music apps, but I use Yahoo! Music Unlimited. I'm able to able to access playlists, or browse for through my music library for specific songs, artists or albums. And combined with a Y!MU subscription, I get access to over 1MM songs. Or, you can play Internet radio stations w/o turning on your PC.

The music quality is as advertised. I listen to WMAs and there is no difference from a CD (I use SPDIF coax digital out).

The Soundbridge has coax and optical digital audio outputs. It supports of WMA, AAC*, WAV, MP3 and AIFF music formats. A remote is included and works well from up to 20 feet away (any further than 15 feet, you can't read the display). If you have questions, there's an online forum.

If you subscribe to a music service (Rhapsody, YME, Napster), this product is meant for you. It supports UPNP and digital out audio so you can listen to all your digital music without loss of audio quality. It's hack-able, wireless, and the screen rocks.
