Printers : Samsung ML-1710

I was happy when I got a hold of this printer for $79.99 after mail in rebates from frys. I was going to buy a HP laser for $370 when i saw the ad for the samsung. I thought i had a bargain! The printing quality was excellent. After using this printer for about 3 months, the printing went to s***! Unfortunately, i did my research after the problem. It seems that lots of ML-1710 owners have this same problem. I wrote to tech support and they did not respond to my dilema. I called them and they were rude and unhelpful. I was looking for a good laser printer that didn't stand the paper on end. This printer was just what I was looking for! It has a bypass tray for special forms, and the paper tray can hold either 8 1/2 X 11 or 8 1/2 X 14 inch paper without a problem.

The print is sharp and clear and with the laser, you don't have to wait until the ink is dry before you touch the paper! Hide Full Review

bought this for 100 bucks at best buy about 6 months ago. print quality sucks, if you're a student and you want to print out your own flashcards, you have to do them with the manual feed one at a time. The thing is already broken, it won't pick up paper from the paper tray. I called Samsung last week and they said they would fax me a label to ship it to them. Still waiting. Support is only available Monday through Friday during normal business hours so expect to take time out from work to resolve the many issues you will have if you buy this P.O.S. Do yourself a favor and buy something else. Lord knows, I'll never buy a Samsung anything ever again. Hide Full Review

This product verifies that Samsung generally makes lousy products. But the printer was cheaper than most cartiridge replacements. However, it is shoddy. The envelope printing function is a joke: envelopes come out creased and barely legible, so light is the printing. Don't buy unless looking for an absolute low cost, low quality item. Product is fast and reliable. Print is sufficient if you are going to use for school or casual printing needs. If you need a professional laser printer this is not it. Toner that came with the printer is half full so you have to buy a replacement. Hide Full Review
